Trump filing in ex-Apprentice contestant's case could open up possibility of deposition

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 05/23/18 03:18 PM EDT

A court filing by President Trump's attorney in an ongoing defamation lawsuit could open the president to a possible deposition.

Attorney Marc Kasowitz filed an answer to former "Apprentice" contestant Summer Zervos's lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court on Tuesday, enabling Zervos's legal team to request to formally question the president under oath.

In the filing, Kasowitz denied a series of allegations against Trump and repeatedly asserted that the president is immune from prosecution under the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution.

Zervos's lawsuit alleges that Trump defamed her by publicly declaring she had fabricated her claims that the real estate mogul sexually assaulted her in 2007.
