House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) was furious after reading the findings of a lengthy report put together by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) after the FBIs handling of the Hillary Clinton Email Probe.
Gowdy, whos had the chance to look at the report before its released to the public, said in a statement that he is alarmed, angered, and deeply disappointed by numerous failures by DOJ and FBI in investigating potential Espionage Act violations by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
He said the report confirms the FBI made unprecedented invesitgative decisions and deviated from traditional investigative procedures in favor of a much more permissive and voluntary approach.
He said the investigation was mishandled, called Comeys July 2016 press conference announcing that no reasonable prosecutor would bring charges against Clinton a serious violation of policy and process, and that Comeys late Oct./early Nov. 2016 letters to Congress were delayed in substance and unnecessary in form.

(2,567 posts)I was a little worried about it, but now I know it's actually fair and objective.
There was that one thing he was right about a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't take it as a change in the tide.

(21,946 posts)criminal? No matter how hard he tried?
He's mad because the IG and FBI didn't find out any more than he did - namely, that there was nothing there to prosecute.
rethugs have one hell of a problem with someone who didn't commit any crimes. When are they going to finally admit that they are hunting nonexistent witches?

(19,204 posts)indictments and convictions is under constant attack by them. Go figure. They've been trying to get something, anything, on Hillary since Bill's first term in office. After well over $100 million and over a quarter of a century of investigating her......bupkiss. Zilch. Nada. ZERO! Will they ever give up and find something else to do? They certainly should, but I doubt they will. It keeps their base riled up because they've spread so many vicious lies about her.

(10,024 posts)And all this occurring when Russian interference into the election and Trump campaign was also being investigated by the FBI was not a violation of process because it is only okay to comment if it hurts a Democrat?

(2,785 posts)despite his recent attempts to appear to be willing to uphold the rule of law. He is still enabling Trump to attempt destroy our democracy and or justice system Notice his spin here he takes objection to Comey saying in his press conference "no reasonable prosecutor" would bring charges against Clinton a "serious violation of policy and process" Not the fact Comey had a press conference in the first place in which he should not have had or that he injected his personal opinion going as far as saying "she acted irresponsible.' That plus book ending it with announcing the reopening of the investigation 11 before the election and not saying oh well never mind it was nothing until less than 48 hours before the election did major damage to Hilary.
