Giuliani: 'I doubt' Trump knew Roger Stone met with Russian during 2016 campaign

Rudy Giuliani said Sunday he doubts President Trump knew that his longtime adviser, Roger Stone, met during the 2016 campaign with a Russian man who offered dirt on Hillary Clinton.
I doubt it. I certainly didnt know about it. Its news to me, the presidents lawyer said on CNNs State of the Union.
It seems to me, however, whatever the differing recollections about this, it sort of gets resolved that Stone did nothing about it, he continued. He came to the conclusion, according to The (Washington) Post that it was a waste of time.
I cant imagine anything got back to the then presidential candidate that was of any substance, he added.

(70,506 posts)1) Rudy is not Trump's lawyer but the barking little yap dog whose job it is
to draw our attention away form other areas.
b) Rudy's I doubt it means yes it happened and I'm leaving myself an out.

(2,871 posts)things he's said lately are about distancing himself from whatever comes crashing down. It's not like dt wouldn't gladly take him down if it becomes a Tweed Ring of fingerpointing.

(32,639 posts)Rudy Giuliani worked on Trump's campaign in the summer and fall of 2016. He knew about all the Russian stuff, as well as Cambridge Analytica. There's even a memo that he wrote to CA telling them what they can and cannot do for the campaign.
Rudy was not appointed Secretary of DoJ because he told Trump he would recuse himself and that's why Sessions got the job. So that's proof that he was in on pretty much everything.

(12,586 posts)Giuliani said he'd have to recuse himself; IQ45 is too stupid to ask Beauregard whether the same regulations applied to him. Now all he can do is engage in Sessions-shaming, and hope he quits before Mueller makes his report.
BTW, all I've heard is that Mueller is putting together his final report about Trump's obstruction of justice; nobody mentions the Russian probe, which includes money laundering, shady real estate deals, and tax fraud.

(32,639 posts)Yes he's definitely on the hook it because he broke the law mucho times. He probably would have gotten away with that - the money laundering, real estate & charity scams etc. - if he hadn't announced running for the presidency. If Manafort flips it will all be back on top again. Even if he doesn't, the trial starts in September and we'll hear all the evidence.
I think Mueller has to focus strictly on the campaign irregularities for now. It's enough to hang Cheeto right there. Mueller has evidence of other crimes and he'll bring that out if he needs it.
The other "legal war" going on is all the stuff from Michael Cohen (payoffs to women for silence etc.) and there's a long way to go investigating that stuff. Mueller has a full plate so he's letting the Southern NY office handle that one.

(5,523 posts)I wudda known because I was an adviser to the campaign. I don't know because I wasn't part of the campaign. The FBI in New York told me. I didn't get any leaks from the FBI.
