Republican Lt. Gov of Utah Blows Up on 'Political Tribalism' In Viral Tweetstorm: 'I Want to Punch S
Source: Mediaite
In a late-night Tweetstorm which has garnered a great deal of attention on Wednesday morning (particularly in progressive circles), the Beehive States second-in-command completely blew up on what he termed political tribalism.
I know I shouldnt tweet, Cox wrote. But Im angry. And sad. I hate what weve become.
The Lt. Gov. added, I want to punch someone.
Cant sleep tonight. I know I shouldnt tweet. But Im angry. And sad. I hate what weve become. My wife wants to go & hold babies & read to lonely/scared/sad kids. I want to punch someone. Political tribalism is stupid. It sucks & its dangerous. We are all part of the problem.

(8,200 posts)This is the culmination of hatred that you sowed in your demonization of the Democrats as ungodly, un-American, immoral vermin. You have achieved exactly what your filthy fascist party has sought since Nixon disgraced the nation. Hopefully this is the tipping point, one bridge of hatred and division too far.

(442 posts)Exceedingly well said! Although i applaud his and wife's discomfort and disapproval of HIS party's policy, it is just that, HIS party's policy and I would have him care to leave the rest of us out of his late night musings that probably won't do anything to change the situation anyways.

(10,749 posts)Well, Lt. Gov. Cox, look in the mirror. Yeah, sure, I know nothing about you. But you're a republican from Utah. You and your ilk have heartily endorsed republican policies for the past 40 years. Anti-black. Anti-Hispanic. Anti-gay. Anti-women. Anti-poor. Anti-environment. And so much more. And you wonder how this came to pass? How often have you supported legislation developed by Democrats. To what extent have you supported legislative efforts under the guise of ALEC?
No, Lt. Gov Cox, we are not all part of the problem. You and your fellow Republicans are part of and have in fact created the problem. You and your fellow Republicans can be part of the solution, however. The next steps are yours.

(11,803 posts)by the GOP to try and stem the blue wave in November. An emotional race based issue that everyone takes notice of. Throw in the "argument" of open vs closed borders. Repeat 10,000 times it's the law and Democrats created the problem. Have Faux and hate radio go into overdrive with the goobers, have a tenuous turd like Cruz introduce a bill to thwart Beto's momentum and maybe, just maybe, you save your parties majority in November.

.started this by standing for policies that help only the 1% and harm the earth. Calling that out and standing up for the majority is not tribalism. It's about not passively agreeing to be fleeced.
Also, the Repugs love any tribalism built on dog whistlesit makes everyone look in another direction and not notice how they are screwing us through removing regulations, fighting minimum wage, the ERA and all the rest of their puke.
Go to hell. You're still lying. You would absolutely still stand by the Party and Trump if both weren't being so obviously ugly. It's the obviousness you object tonot the content.

It took people from both parties being outraged to get this atrocity the attention it deserves. Sure it might just be because he's playing politics, but it's still a necessary thing for Republicans to speak out to help contain Trump.

(17,320 posts)That's your solution? How about you renounce your ties to the Republican party and join us? How about you use your position of power to make some changes?

(13,913 posts)now Spencer can grow some balls and renounce his racist/fascist party. He can be an Independent if he doesn't want to join the Dems but it will certainly set an example to the other spineless GOP Congressman & officials to follow.
