Rubio heckled by protestors outside immigration detention facility

Source: the hill

By Justin Wise - 06/22/18 03:03 PM EDT

Demonstrators heckled Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), calling him an "opportunist" during a protest outside a federal detention facility for migrant children in South Florida on Friday.
...................................................

Two Florida lawmakers were blocked from entering the Homestead facility Rubio was at earlier this week. Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) accused the Trump administration of a “cover-up” after not being allowed to survey the living conditions.

“It is an affront as the senior senator of this state that an agency head would tell me that I do not have entrance into a federally funded facility where the lives and health of children are at stake,” Nelson said........................................................

In response, the Department of Heath and Human Services (HHS) sent a directive this week that states lawmakers must give two weeks' notice before traveling to an immigrant detention center...........................................

because the Trump White House knows he can be counted on to perpetuate the propaganda. Nelson? No way. We obviously can't have someone who will tell the truth, for good or ill, waltzing around Trump's concentration camps!

Um no. That might work if you are talking about literal "state lawmakers", i.e., those who are members of a state legislature, but when it comes to FEDERAL lawmakers, who FUND the Department, that dog don't hunt.

If he weren't a Republican toadie, most Republicans would throw him in a banana boat - and he knows it.

Need to be shamed for doing nothing to trump for the rest of their lives. By allowing him now to remain in office is allowing child abuse to be normalized, and people to be treated like sub humans. They should be ashamed for this , and publicly shamed. We're watching real time trump destroy this country day by day , while they the do nothing but enable him to do more, and worse things to us all, normalize lying, corruption, indecency, and the destruction of our country for his personal political gains. No more excuse, he has to be removed now. The cancer is spreading. Giving him any power is a crime, and now he wants to reorganize the government, and use it more for himself, and to help consolidate his powers , and eliminate Congresses power, and to protect himself from his crimes against us and this country.

it out of the hands of the republicans and stop letting them make it into an issue they can capitalize on. I think when the admin. decided to split apart immigrant families, this changed the whole ball of wax, and this issue, as it should, is destroying republicans, poll wise. Ironic, isn't it, being that the republicans wanted to show everyone how 'tough' they are on immigration, and...they did. America didn't like though, one bit!! The true colors of the republicans came shining through, and it isn't pretty.

This is probably why rump has come full circle now, and is trying to draw the democrats into some kind of agreement to work on immigration. If I were a democratic rep today, I wouldn't trust rump 1 bit. Not even an iota of 1 bit! Rump is NOT a man of his word, and has proven this numerous times.

Other issues to hammer home against the republicans...

Thus highlight those suffering from being split apart (families), and point out the obviously discrepancies of being a family-oriented party (they are not).

Point out where the 2018 tax law heaped on more federal debt, and then in a 180 degree turn around, decry the massive federal debt and cut social security, medicare, and other social services to help pay down this debt (in effect, taking from the 99% of us and giving it to the remaining 1%).

Point out that the affordability of housing is at its worst showing in 10 years.

Point out that yeah, the markets have gone up, but the vast majority of us have yet to see anything what so ever, and probably won't either (vast amount of income hasn't flowed to the bottom 99%).

I'm sure that there are other issues too, but is a start...
