Sarah Palin Cheers Convention Floor Fight
Source: Buzzfeed
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who starred at the 2008 Republican National Convention and will skip this one, Tuesday morning offered her support to conservatives pressing for a floor fight over attempts by Mitt Romney's allies to centralize control over the Republican Party.
"We have to remember that this election is not just about replacing the party in power. It's about who and what we replace it with. Grassroots conservatives know this," Palin said her Facebook posting. "Without the energy and wisdom of the grassroots, the GOP would not have had the historic 2010 electoral victories.
"That's why the controversial rule change being debated at the RNC convention right now is so very disappointing. It's a direct attack on grassroots activists by the GOP establishment, and it must be rejected."

(184 posts)Wisdom?? The grassroots of the GOP consist of knuckle dragging troglodytes who think Obama is a Muslim Marxist who was born in Kenya, that global climate change is a myth, that evolution, science and education are liberal bunk, that rape is the same thing as consensual sex, that minorities should not be allowed to vote and that "what papers do you read? Name some" is a GOTCHA question. They think that only poor black people and illegal immigrants get "entitlements" and don't think oil subsidies, or tax loopholes are entitlements. They also believe that when the Republicans control all aspects of their government, that their lives will be better. They believe that Republicans will end entitlements to THOSE PEOPLE over there.
They have not yet put together that THEY ARE THOSE PEOPLE.

(582 posts)Will there be a Republican Party this time next year? Consider this scenario. The Republican party the week after the elections, the Ron Paul supporters form a Republican Libertarian party. They feel they are the true keepers of Republican values. The social conservatives blame the Tea Party for the massive loss to Obama, and form the Christian Republican Party. The true old school Republicans blame the Tea Party and social conservatives for the massive loss, and discover that the core Democratic values are closer to them than the new Republicans and just move over. Tea Party claims the Republican name for themselves, like they did the party. You see, Democrats are used to dealing with coalitions. Republicans are all believers in my way or the highway.

(8,053 posts)she has done nothing her whole life but be disruptive and divisive.
she and her husband were active in the Alaskan Separatists movement
when she was let off her leash 4 yrs ago, all her speeches were just her vomiting divisive rhetoric to the point that she divided
members of the campaign that were trying to get mccain in office.
now she wants to further her divisive bs by interjecting her opinion where I'm quite sure it isn't appreciated.
Grassroots, when it comes to that side of things, has absolutely no wisdom because they all need to be told what to think. The only energy they have is to turn on fux noose and stare at the screen, mouth agape, while they scratch their bellies and dream of her being their soul mate.

(10,495 posts)a means to an end. We have a couple in our 4H club that are blind Repugs that will not listen to reason and logic. They went to dinner with us once after a meeting. It was so bad it was funny! They would forget the fact that my wife, who is black, was black when they would roll out their Obama hate speech. Like other's experiences I have read here on DU, they could not listen to any reason. I listened closely to what was said and found it only to be talking points. When I tried a different tack, discussing the BP Texas City explosion of 2005 where they killed 15 and injured thousands (he is an operator in an Exxon/Mobil refinery) he said some things that just blew my mind. Understand, I am an attorney at a large Plaintiffs firm that lead that litigation. I have seen documents where they budgeted the price of their worker's lives. They put the 3 little pigs, in cartoon form, on a budget document with each house representing a proposed budget for rebuilding this large old plant they received when BP merged with Amoco. They had the straw house for the least amount of "spend," stick house, brick house and something they referred to as the "impenetrable fortress." Under the straw and stick house budgets they expected and estimated the loss of life from not repairing all of the most serious problems. They chose the stick house b/c it would only kill one or two. When I told this to them, he defended the company! I asked him, "what if that had been your plant and they did this to you and the folks you work with?" He said it was cost of doing business, even though I argued that the cost of doing business should start at the level where you don't expect to kill people! Being against lawsuits (my job), he said his wife should not sue, that is what life insurance is for. Trust me when I say that she would be the 1st at my door if that became reality! How do you convince people like this of anything?

How dare they dismiss her!
After all she has done for them!
Senator McCain was one of the most well-established members of the GOP establishment in 2008 when she was put on the GOP ticket, the very same GOP establishment that she is railing against now.

(15,369 posts)My personal take is that she still harbors the insane belief that "God" will draft her as a replacement candidate for Mitt at the convention.
Given today's GOP, such an outcome would not be as off the wall as one might think.

(57,936 posts)1968. The Republican Party is/will splitting/split into f. . . a . . . c . . . t . . . i . . . o . . . n . . . s. It's a question of time.
The Republican Party has been too tightly sprung, too wound up in a coil for too long. It's just falling apart. Whether Romney wins or loses, it's over for the Republican Party -- the solid voting block, the absurdly extreme stances, they are untenable and always were.
A political party has to remain somewhat flexible in order to accommodate all of its members.
The extreme Ayn-Randers, the social conservatives, the racists, the haters, the religious fanatics, the moderate right-wingers and the ambitious business-types. Rub them together and just keep rubbing and what do you get? A tight wad, a lot of noise and then flying debris.
We are reaching the flying debris stage.
