Convention protesters try to arrest Condi Rice

Source: The Seattle Times

Police in Tampa stopped a dozen anti-war protesters from entering an event attended by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice after the group said it intended to arrest her for war crimes.

The protesters from Code Pink carried handcuffs Tuesday and tried to enter a performing arts center. Rice was attending an event in conjunction with the Republican National Convention. They said they wanted to make a citizen's arrest of Rice. She was George W. Bush's National Security Adviser when the Iraq War started in 2003.

Officers told protesters to leave because they were on private property. They went back to the sidewalk and several lay down under sheets made to look like they were blood-splattered.

That Performing Arts Center is Public Property, built with public funds(i.e. taxpayers money), just like the the Times Forum where these sleaze bags are holding their convention.

We need to learn what is Public Property and what is Private Property. Go to the Park downtown, and have the police tell you that must leave because this park is private property is a "lie". Go to the Performing Arts Center downtown, it's a community project in which public funding was used to construct this center makes it a public entity, and public property.

That doesn't mean you can hang out wherever you want in or around the White House.

Try walking into a random military base sometime. Those are built with taxpayer money. They are publicly-owned, but they are not public property. Try walking into the Smithsonian after it's closed.

If she was guilty of war crimes, the Justice Department would already have arrested her.

...there should be arrests if there are people truly guilty of war crimes. And not arresting them would make those in power complicit in the injustice.
