Trump tried to convince GOP senators to turn on Sessions: report

Source: The Hill

President Trump has personally been lobbying Republican senators to flip on Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Politico reported Wednesday.

Politico reported that Trump, angry with his attorney general, talked about firing Sessions last week during a phone call with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). Graham last week said that Trump is “very likely” to fire Sessions and that the president was entitled to an attorney general “he has faith in.”

Trump, according to the outlet, also has “complained loudly” to several other Republican senators about Sessions.

Graham told reporters last week that it will soon “be time to have a new face and a fresh voice at the Department of Justice.” “Clearly, Attorney General Sessions doesn’t have the confidence of the president,” he said. Separately, Grassley told Bloomberg that he has time now for hearings for a new attorney general that he didn't have previously.

Sounds like Trump doesn't have the guts to fire Sessions and wants someone else to do the dirty work

We sure wouldn't want an unseemly delay in the Kavanaugh nomination. It wouldn't be fair to Republicans to delay the vote until after mid-terms.

When they go low, we crawl on our bellies like worms.

Working for him to help uncover anything they can use against them, and pressure them to tow the line for him, like Graham is now being forced to do from something they have on him, probably taking russian money funneled thru the NRA, or personal things they found on him to use. I wonder if trump did this during the campaign too?

If he can take out Sessions, install a toady who will fire Rosenstein and Mueller before the November elections, he thinks he'll be home free.

I'd say he should be charged with obstruction before all that happens.
