Graham Warns Dems Of 'New Standard': 'You Better Watch Out For Your Nominees'

Source: Talking Points Memo

By Nicole Lafond

Cameron Joseph contributed reporting

Speaking to reporters during a recess in the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing featuring Christine Blasey Ford, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) warned his “Democratic friends” that they “better watch out” if “this becomes the new norm.”

“If this becomes the new standard, where you have an accusation for weeks and you drop it right before the hearing, you withhold from the committee the chance to do this in a professional timely fashion, when they publicly say their goal is to delay the vote … I don’t want to reward that kind of behavior,” he said. “Let me tell my Democratic friends, if this becomes the new norm, you better watch out for your nominees.”

Graham also harped on several issues he had with Blasey Ford’s testimony, mainly, that she couldn’t remember how she got to or from the party. He said whether he believes Blasey Ford doesn’t matter because, he claimed, her statements couldn’t be corroborated. He also slammed the accusations of another woman who came forward on Wednesday.

“They’ve tried to destroy this guys life with one accusation after another, that he’s a serial rapist,” he said. “That some woman said I went to 10 parties where they were drugging and raping people. I don’t believe that one bit.”

I mean I strongly supported Hillary, even caught shit because I honestly thought she was the better candidate in 2008! I've always been - at least by my definition - a feminist, since my mother was the smartest, most capable person I've ever known it has never seriously occurred to me that there is anything a woman can't do as well as a man....

But women can be just as fucked-up fascist as men. Just as mean, just as dishonest. Thatcher was way nastier, and every bit as effective (at screwing things up) as Reagan, she inspired him big time.

I mean she did more than almost anyone in history to derail a constitutional amendment that looked like a sure thing. If it wasn't for the context and content- if she'd been on our side and had stopped a bad instead of a good amendment - we'd be in awe. A brilliant player in the political game, more than the equal of anyone who crossed intellectual paths with her and persuasive as hell; what a damned shame that she was such a victim of 'Stockholm Syndrome and defended that which she should have opposed. At least that's my perception.....
