On Friday, former Vice-President Joe Biden issued a scathing statement slamming the Republican members of the Judiciary Committee for the degree of invective, blind rage and brute partisanship exhibited during Thursdays Brett Kavanaugh hearing.
What we witnessed yesterday from the Republican Judiciary Committee members was a degree of invective, blind rage and brute partisanship that threatens not only the Senate and the Supreme Court it threatens the basic faith in fairness and justice that binds this country together, the statement read.
Then, after calling Christine Blasey Fords testimony courageous, and noting he was glad the members of the Senate have called for an FBI probe, Biden concluded: Doctor Blasey Ford deserves an FBI investigation today. The millions of women who have suffered sexual assault and abuse deserve an FBI investigation. The country deserves one. And for its reputation and legitimacy, the Supreme Court needs one too.

Biden also said Republicans have distort[ed] relevant comments he made in 1991, which were recently shared by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell:

(43,257 posts)is that the members of the Tribes of America don't wish to be associated with one another. At all. They are mutually exclusive. So I'm not convinced America is ready to harken back to a more civil time.

(15,649 posts)you so aptly pointed out. Appeals to reason are futile in the midst of a war. That is what we are in whether we recognize it or not. This is about a permanent take over of our nation by force; and it has been largely successful to date. We better wake up in a hurry! GOTV and take to the streets!

I like him. I really do. I've always liked him.
I think I'm worried that the GOP gerrymandering--combined w/ the Citizen United decision--has kept younger candidates in purple states from running.
Where is the strong, smart, young Democrat from a purple state?

(92,366 posts)use the Anita Hill hearings against him, so he should be ready for that.
He already made a small effort in that direction:

but in my view it will have to be stronger, take full responsibility for not doing more, and excusing it on the environment at the time.
If that time comes, he will need to give a major press conference and speech at the time, in a similar way that President Obama did with Reverend Wright
