Facebook rejects controversial Trump immigration ad

Source: The Hill

BY ALI BRELAND - 11/05/18 01:27 PM EST

Facebook on Monday said it would not run President Trump's controversial immigration ad on its website, which critics have labeled racist.

The social media company’s move came after CNN, NBC and Fox News also pulled the ad.

The ad focuses on an undocumented immigrant in the U.S. who was deported several times before ending up back in the country and shooting and killing two police officers.

“This ad violates Facebook's advertising policy against sensational content so we are rejecting it. While the video is allowed to be posted on Facebook, it cannot receive paid distribution,” a Facebook spokesperson told The Hill in a statement.
