Mitch McConnell Says Legislation to Protect Mueller Will Not Come Up 'Because It Isn't Necessary'

Source: Mediate

by Josh Feldman | Nov 9th, 2018, 4:06 pm

Given how President Donald Trump has picked someone on record as slamming Robert Mueller‘s investigation and talking about cutting off its funds to be the acting Attorney General (following the firing of Jeff Sessions), a lot of people are now obviously worried about Mueller potentially being in danger.

There were #ProtectMueller protests across the country yesterday, and House Democrats––who will be in the majority––are taking steps to protect Mueller.

On the Senate side, outgoing Republican Jeff Flake is pushing for legislation to protect Mueller. The President, of course, responded with a juvenile insult.

Oh did I mention McConnell is up for reelection in 2020 and he will not steal the election this time..He will lose.

Because I believe that in 2014 McConnell had some Russian help

he is up for re-election in 2020 ( and I think he has a Democratic Challenger just waiting that is well organized for the fight.)

There are 23 Republican Senate seats up for re-election in 2020 and 11 for Democrats..
The Senate majority favors the Democrats in 2020 and Republicans know it...

Without actually officially killing it. So legislation isn't needed.

It'd be easier just to cut his funding, or to narrow the scope. That would end it fairly soon.

could then appoint him to lead an investigation for them into the matter and that would be even worse for the Repugnants as right now his investigation is pretty narrow but they could broaden it.

He has two core things he's investigation (the conspiracy w/Russia and the obstruction of justice), but Rosenstein also authorized Mueller to run down any other possible crimes he ran across in doing his core investigations. That's what led to the Manafort and Cohen referrals to other courts for other possible crimes that Mueller ran across. That could also authorize Mueller to run down tax evasion, money laundering, or other crimes by Trump, if he ran across indications of that when investigating the two core things. Then, after Mueller ran across possible money laundering and such by Manafort and Cohen, Rosenstein authorized Mueller referring those to the court that handle those.

What Whitaker is likely to do is de-authorize investigations into anything other than the two core things (conspiracy, obstruction), not allowing referrals of, say, campaign finance crimes, money laundering, or anything...or investigating those things in any way.

Whitaker may also cut the funding. Narrowing the scope of the investigation and de-funding it would end it. (Hopefully Mueller is already near the end.)

I don't know if the House has the authority to appoint Mueller to investigate Trump. The House can do its own investigation, which I think they will do.

has more credibility, you click on which has more credibility the ABA or the Federalist Society, the ABA has been around since the 1878 and the Koch backed right wing fascist society since around 1982, the Federalist society is part of the James Buchanan Libertarian right wing fundamentals, since that asshole set up shop at the George Mason University which was started with Koch money if you get a chance read Nancy MacLeans book Democracy in Chains( Nancy MacLean
Penguin Random House 2017)...................( https://history.duke.edu/book/democracy-chains)............., but if you first google information for a read on the two, the first thing that pops up and to come up disparages the ABA,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and that's from the USA Today newspaper................go figure, they aren't the best when it comes to unbiased journalism, quite the opposite.............

She goes into depth about how the Federalist Society was set and what its mission statement was.....................and it was not the Constitution for judges or lawyers, but special interests....................but I rant
