Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) blasted the GOP over the handling of Georgia's midterm elections, saying if Democrat Stacey Abrams does not win the race for governor, Republicans stole it.
If Stacey Abrams doesnt win in Georgia, they stole it, Brown said. Its clear.
Speaking at a National Action Network event in Washington, D.C., Wednesday morning, Brown, who has said he is considering a presidential run in 2020, said Republicans cant win elections because there is way more of us than there are of them.
They cant win elections fairly, Brown said. They win elections by redistricting and reapportionment and voter suppression and all the ways they try to scare people, particularly people of color.

(10,429 posts)Makes me wonder sometimes how many Democratic politicians are happy being the minority party.
We've known republicons steal elections since 2000 and before. Republicons have worked to continue, expand and calibrate their stealing. Democrats haven't often spoken of this problem until now, much less take action. If they don't follow through with Pelosi's statement, and actually put an end to republicon stealing and voter suppression, Democrats will soon be a minority party again.
I like what I've been hearing the last few days from Pelosi & Brown. Now it will be time for action.

(15,643 posts)honest messaging that will inspire Democrats to vote. It may inspire more Rs to vote as well, but as Sen. Brown said, there are way more of us.
Kudos to Sherrod Brown for speaking the truth in the face of oppression. Finally, a Democrat calling it like it is rather than dancing around and making innuendos or being pedantic about the topic.

(8,756 posts)They don't self identify as liberal. So I use "progressive" to mean people to the left who call themselves such. Which are usually pretty far left. Especially since the national center was dragged to the right in the 90s and 00s.
If this was the 70s, Bill and Hillary Clinton would be Republicans.
