Democratic Rep. Fudge says she's 'overwhelmed' by support as she weighs speaker bid

Source: Politico

Rep. Marcia L. Fudge said on Thursday that she has been “overwhelmed” by the support from many of her colleagues for her possible entry into the race for House speaker, becoming the first Democrat to publicly acknowledge a challenge to longtime party leader Nancy Pelosi.

“Over the last 12 hours, I’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of support I’ve received,” Fudge said in an interview with The Washington Post, adding that there are “probably closer to 30” Democrats who have privately signaled that they are willing to oppose Pelosi.

“Things could change rapidly,” Fudge said with a smile as she sat in her office, with her phone buzzing nearby.

Fudge, 66, a former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, said she is building a diverse coalition as she mulls a speaker run, talking with allies on the CBC, moderate Democrats, and newly elected members.

The irrational "hatred" of Nancy Pelosi suggests to me that it's something motivated by a desire to exact revenge or to settle-old-scores for some perceived slight.

One of the Five White Guys to voice my displeasure.

Pelosi has proven herself as far as having the energy, organizational skills, and knowledge of the intricate rules in congress.

This is crazy.

No on-the-job training for the most important Democratic position in Congress—especially right now! We need someone experienced, savvy, effective and one who has been dealing with these Republican snakes for over a decade. She knows their tricks and their moves better than any other Democratic congress person.

She said she plans to retire in the not-so-distant future, so let her use her expertise to help clean up this mess, THEN someone new can step in as Hoyer's replacement and learn how to do the job from the master.

What the f*** is wrong with these stupid, stupid Democrats!!??

Just when things start looking well for the Democratic party, there comes a bunch of, what I call, republican stooges to unbalance what should be a great celebration.

I have to think that republicans are leading this effort, that, or we have very stupid people in the Democratic party. Where is the benefit of dividing when all democrats should be united and show strength?

People need their space ...

She will easily win the D spot in the caucus vote, a handful or two will vote present on the floor and she will be speaker.

Fudge will get some kind of chair or position ...

Some of the assholes who are hating on her will get the broom closet in the basement for an office ...

Same as it always was ...

The one thing republicans do very very well is that they stick together, yes we call them Lemmings because they all say the same things (verbatim), they all act the same, but to their voters they carry the same message and show incredible unity. Their message is so consistent, that even if its not true (which is the case many times), it becomes a meme, and their base buys into it.

Instead of the stupidity that is going on, that HAS to be orchestrated by some republican, they should unite in letting the whole World know how effective and good Nancy Pelosi is, not the talking points Seth Moulton used in a CNN interview, his answers make any republican very proud..."Because what the American people want"...this is how republicans back up their useless talking points and Moulton used the same line repeatedly to try to support his point without any real data. Which "American people" want Nancy Pelosi out? Republicans, that is it...Republicans are afraid of women, mostly powerful women like Nancy Pelosi.

Is it a coincidence that this movement is being led by "5-white-guys"??? Yes, they are supporting a black woman for their cause, and that is a well planned masquerade, but the republican stink is all over it.

this isn't bad ... Everyone needs their space.

Pelosi is going to win the caucus vote by a wide margin, a handful or two will vote present on the floor and she will be speaker. Fudge or whoever shows well will get a position or chair or something, some people who stick with her will get rewarded, some who need to oppose her because of promises they made back home will be fine, some who are just being haters will end up having their office in the broom closet in the basement.

People spazzing over this are the ones doing the Rs and Russians bidding here, this is the Rs and medias way of ginning up the dems are in trouble bullshit.

This is completely normally shuffling and positioning after a big mid term.
