Camp Fire death toll now 88; 203 people unaccounted for

Source: KSBY

...The Butte County Sheriff and Coroner says no additional remains were located today, however, the number rose to 88 because of DNA testing. The sheriff says a lot of the remains were significantly damaged if not destroyed. In one case, firefighters thought they had located remains from two individuals, but after testing it turned out to be three individuals.

The sheriff says 2,689 people who were listed as unaccounted have now been located. The current list of unaccounted people stands at 203.

The sheriff says 21 people have been arrested for looting and other crimes, including one arrest on Monday where a man was accused of making terrorist threats against PG&E employees in the area.

The fire was fully contained on Sunday. It burned more than 153,000 acres since it started on November 8. Nearly 14,000 homes were destroyed in the fire.

Some lost everything, others still have a home, but no community to come back to. This is devastating to the entire Northern California area. Decades to recover.
