Trump and Jerome Corsi Have a Defense Agreement, Giuliani Says
Source: Daily Beast
President Donald Trump, who built his political rise on promoting far-right birther claims against President Barack Obama, does in fact have a joint defense agreement with leading birther conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi, The Daily Beast has confirmed.
Rudy Giuliani, Trumps attorney handling special counsel Robert Muellers investigation, said in a brief phone interview Wednesday morning that the joint defense agreement that Corsi had earlier claimed existed does actually exist. Giuliani said he confirmed this with Jane Raskin, another member of the Trump legal team, adding that the agreement is a recent development. Giuliani also said he has talked about the agreement and Corsi with President Trump in recent days, and that Trump told him he vaguely knows Corsi, but doesnt remember the last time they spoke.
The Trump lawyer added that he knew of Corsis work years ago on the birther stuff.
Corsi and Trumps past relationship wasnt merely a one-off thing. In April 2011, Michael Cohen, then Trumps personal attorney and notorious fixer, told NBC News that the future president was promised a pre-publication copy of Corsis book, Wheres the Birth Certificate?. Cohen said that Jerome Corsi had reached out to Mr. Trump to explain certain facts that are in his book, and that the two men had spoken on a handful of occasions.

(15,650 posts)It took a long time (years) to successfully prosecute another crime boss: John Gotti. That's probably what we should suspect with the Twitler. Eventually, one of his senior deputies will turn against him -- but it could be a long while yet.

(19,204 posts)and she said that Trump has a joint defense agreement with 32 different people. No wonder TrumpCo. knows everything Mueller is doing. If I were a prosecutor I wouldn't allow any joint defense agreements, especially knowing what a crooked piece of crap Trump is.

(19,204 posts)about the questions being asked of them. How is a prosecutor supposed to question a suspect (Trump) when they already know what questions they'll be asking and the answers to those questions? Why a prosecutor or investigator would allow that many defense agreements boggles my mind. You're just asking for trouble, and Mueller sure as hell got it. Without putting any specific language in Manafort's plea agreement about ceasing all defense agreements with others involved seems like a monumental mistake on Mueller's part. He certainly doesn't think TrumpCo. is going to play by the rules, does he? This is so un-Mueller-like. It doesn't make sense to me. He's usually at least two steps in front of TrumpCo. at all times, and now it looks like he got played. Or did he purposely leave an out for TrumpCo? Color me totally confused on this one.

(6,933 posts)I'm trusting if Nicole Wallace knows this, then Bob Mueller has considered it in his strategy.
If Trump expects to "rush the castle" with 32 people as human intelligence shields, I'm sure Bob Mueller has laid out mine fields expecting that rush. Every one of those communications are on Mueller's radar, too.
Trump thinks he's listening on Mueller, but Mueller is tracking every contact back to Trump. Too bad Don had bone spurs, he missed the type of life-and-death strategy experience and wisdom Mueller earned.

(523 posts)Trump cannot offer Corsi any sort of defense help - except the possibility of a Presidential pardon. No other possibility seems plausible.
But, of course, for Corsi to be able to rely on that promise (or hinted promise), he'd have to stonewall Mueller and any Congressional investigation, he'd have to be absolutely loyal to Trump and absolutely no help to any investigation or prosecution. Manafor is getting the same sort of promise and Trump openly says that a pardon for Manafort remains "on the table" - but of course Manafort has to keep faith with The Don.
Frankly, the President's misuse of pardons - for example, to reward his own henchmen - is grounds for impeachment, so Trump might dawdle about delivering on his promise of a pardon until his last month in office.

(19,204 posts)in thumbing his nose at Law Enforcement from the day he was born. He's said so many mean, rotten untruthful things about Mueller and his "12 angry Democrats", not to mention cutting the FBI and the entire Justice Department to ribbons with his stupid, lying tweets, He's almost daring Justice and Congress to come and get him. He's the mafia Don, and he demands allegiance from everyone under him. If he doesn't get it, they get "whacked", so to speak. As always, Trump thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, or on the planet. And the Republican Congress has shown no inclination in hindering his march to the sea at all. The only thing that stands in his way now is a Democratic House come January, but with a Senate that remains his lap dog that doesn't really matter either. Suddenly I'm very uncomfortable with the way this investigation is going.

(65,170 posts)To make us think that Trump knows everything going on in Mueller's investigation?
I don't believe any of these agreement stories. That would require Mueller to be too oblivious to the potential for obstruction and obfuscation.
I don't believe Mueller is that foolish.
