Joe Biden on Rise of Hate in America: 'Our Leadership is Giving License to This Prejudice'

On Wednesday night, former Vice-President Joe Biden offered a scathing rebuke of our nation’s leadership.

“We are in a battle for the soul of this nation,” Biden said at the Lantos Foundation annual gala just hours after he attended the funeral of George H.W. Bush.

He added: “We have to recognize trend lines are moving in the wrong direction. Earlier this year, the anti-Defamation League published a report of anti-semitic incidents had rose nearly 60% alone in 2017. The largest one-year increase since they started keeping records in 1970. That’s not an accident. It’s not an accident.”

Biden then said this without mentioning the current president’s name: “Our leadership is giving license, giving license to this prejudice.”

2. I'm glad Biden said it....but....

I think we're making a mistake in focusing all the blame on Trump....we've got to deprogram the cult of Trump, and change the attitude of Americans to resist and return the hate groups and prejudices to the shadowy minority where they belong.

How it is done?.....strangely enough I think H.W. Bush's funeral showed us window...the more we praise past Republicans the more we marginalize current Republicans...

Just this morning I read about a wealthy Republican supporting businessman in Wisconsin abandoning Scott Walker over his shenanigans to cripple the newly-elected Democratic Governor...I see Republicans on talk shows reminiscing of the "good-old-days" when Repubs and Dems could "fight like hell" on the floor and have dinner and drinks together at night..

In a bizarre twist of fate the death and canonization of George H. W. Bush has opened a window we should probably capitalize upon.
