Trump administration begs SCOTUS to let it ban transgender people from the military now

Source: think progress

The government wants the ban to go into effect — even though it's still being litigated.

The Trump administration, in a series of emergency briefs on Thursday, pleaded with the Supreme Court to allow a ban on transgender people serving in the military to take effect, rather that waiting a year to take up the case.

The Department of Justice initially filed a set of briefs over Thanksgiving weekend asking the Court to take up the matter, an attempt to circumvent the four cases still playing in federal district and appeals courts.

In the new filings, the administration doubled down on this request, insisting that if the Court doesn’t take up the case this session, it should stay the injunctions the lower courts have imposed, allowing the ban to take effect until it’s able to visit the case in 2019.

Letting thousands of transgender people already serving in the military keep their jobs poses “too great a risk to military effectiveness and lethality,” the filing claims. Allowing an injunction to remain in place “well into 2020” is “a period too long,” and “contrary to the Nation’s interests.”...............................

1. Seems like something of an uphill battle for the WH

This kind of action, where the Supreme Court bypassed the lower courts without waiting and reversed an injunction, is extreme and has only happened a few times in matters regarding grave national security concerns.

2. Add Stephen Miller to that WTF and I'm right there with you!

You have WH there, but I think Miller deserves his name out there as much as possible. While we are blaming tRump for everything, it is Miller who is dreaming this stuff up. He is also the one that keeps bring the evil back to the spotlight. tRump's memory would not be good enough to do this by himself.

This is the GOP. This is the full on base of the GOP

This is MILLIONS of people that feel this way and they are all GOP trump supporters. You could get rid of Trump and there are a 100000 trumps waiting with the same ideas.

If Dems dont get off their asses and start voting these people out.. (not just in one mid term but in every election) then the GOP will eventually pass laws that forbid anybody thats not a republican from voting.

You must have a RNC membership card and show a concealed carry permit in order to vote.

All dem votes only count for .5 votes in the house and senate.

This position arbitrary and demeaning to those that are already serving with honor and distinction. No way they will be granted relief.

And when a platoon of transgender soldiers comes to save his sorry ass, he sticks to his guns and refuses help from any of them...

Of course he wouldn't do that. He would BEG to be saved... So what's the fucking point of not letting them serve? They aren't worthy of risking their lives for our freedom??

Fuck you Donald Trump

Who would be losing their mind about a person's gender? Pence, and his odd-ball radical religious beliefs.
