Trump Praises Judge Ruling Against Obamacare: 'Great News for America!'

Source: Mediaite

by Tamar Auber | Dec 14th, 2018, 9:46 pm

On Friday night, President Donald Trump celebrated a Texas judge’s ruling putting Obamacare at risk by declaring it “great news.”

“Wow, but not surprisingly, ObamaCare was just ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL by a highly respected judge in Texas. Great news for America!” Trump tweeted out.

The tweets are in response to U.S. District Court Judge Reed O’Connor, a George W. Bush appointee, ruling Obamacare must be nixed because the penalty for not being insured was removed by Congress.

The move now threatens 20 million who rely on its coverage. The judge’s ruling will also be immediately appealed.

Trump claimed that he supported universal affordable care for every citizen. This would be a perfect time to aware him with his promise.

Please explain how the ACA is a disaster?
Can you explain why this ruling, with specifics, is such a great decision?
Can you explain, in detail, what people will need to do now that this judge has made that ruling, how it affects them?
Why is the ACA unconstitutional?

Just 4 questions, which I am sure it is too much for the idiot to answer, but pin him to the wall, don't let him get away with his 5-year-old talk, great, disaster, etc...They ask him questions and he always responds like a child, no substance or facts, and people let him get away with it.

Because it was at a black man's doing - Obama

Can you explain why this ruling, with specifics, is such a great decision?
Because it supports my first answer - It kicks Obama in the teeth and makes my base happy

Can you explain, in detail, what people will need to do now that this judge has made that ruling, how it affects them?
Not my problem -

Why is the ACA unconstitutional
Because it makes sense - Nowhere in the Constitution does it say Obamacare for all

Not the tweet.. but the ruling. I have an overwhelming fear that the SCOTUS will affirm the ruling.

I am currently on Medicaid and I only qualify for it under the expansion rules. I have a rare disease that requires using a $40k a MONTH orphan drug to treat - that only Medicaid MCOs in my state are willing to pay for. Simply put, if I lose coverage I am dead within a year.

I applied for SSI when Trump was selected -- literally the next business day I filled out an application and hired a disability attorney (they only get paid if you win - so you can still hire one even if you have zero income like I do). I, like many others, thought the ACA would be repealed not long after his 'inauguration' so I took pre-emptive action by trying to get on SSI so that I would 1. be immune from work requirements for SNAP and 2. qualify for Medicaid under pre-ACA rules.

I had my SSI hearing before a judge a few weeks ago. It sounded like things are going to go my way but I won't know until I get the judge's ruling in the mail. If and only if I get SSI I would be able to stay on Medicaid if the expansion went away.

I hope this nonsense costs the Republicans dearly. I truly want it to derail the GOP for many decades if not permanently. The only way we have even a CHANCE of getting single payer is if Democrats can get 2/3 control of the Senate. I don't see it happening without that.

is that SCOTUS ruled the ACA constitutional on the basis of Congress's taxing power. Since there is no longer a tax penalty for not having insurance, the whole thing is supposedly unconstitutional.

Do the Republicans really hate the poor so much that they are willing to fuck themselves just to fuck the poor? Seems like it. Talk about a fucking lose/lose

The individual mandate wasn't repealed, they couldn't get that done at 60 votes so they just lowered the tax penalty to $0 which only required 51 votes. That means this Judges ruling will lose on appeal. Even if it doesn't, Chief Justice Roberts has already ruled that the ACA is Constitutional. Do you think he'll overturn his own ruling after setting the precedent so some moron in Texas can rewrite the law of an entire Country? Not gonna happen. i suspect this Judge is just hoping for either a trump appointment or is soon up for re-election in texas and is pandering to the repub base. At any rate, relax. This dog don't hunt. Not that we shouldn't use this for as much poltical milegae as possible, by all means, we should...but for everybody scared right now I figured I'd clue you in: it's gonna be okay.

If 30 million lose it, that's effectively one 9/11 of dead Americans every year until they fix it.

The judge not allowing a stay until they get something else figured out was unconscionable - basically, genocide against vulnerable Americans.

The Republican mentality of governance needs to be exterminated - to save lives.

Then saying its great for America is sick. trump and the gop don't want anyone to have health care, except those trash can policies they promote that the people find out when needed they're worthless. Remember his claim he's have better, lower costing for everyone health plan, but 40-50 million at least will lose their plans. He's a liar , and the gop are too.

Sat Dec 15, 2018, 11:32 AM
Dec 2018

U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor, who ruled the Affordable Care Act “invalid” Friday, is no stranger to the conservative resistance to Obama administration policies.

O’Connor, 53, is a former state and federal prosecutor who was nominated to the federal bench in 2007 by President George W. Bush. He has been active in the Federalist Society, which describes itself as “a group of conservatives and libertarians interested in the current state of the legal order.”

Lied us into war in Iraq and he lied about only appointing strict constructionist as judges, as this ruling clearly shows.

It is in the Republican DNA to lie. It is what they do. And the people suffer. McConnell has now stripped the filibuster in the Senate so it only takes 51 votes to confirm these justices and Trump is taking full advantage by packing the courts assuring this problem will be with us for the next 30 years or more.

And have been lying about the ACA, and doing anything they can to cause premiums to skyrocket, and cut people off of having this plan, yet right before the mid terms claimed the opposite . Now this will hurt the trump supporters and the gop voters the most, and maybe then they'll realize these people are crooks not working for them but the wealthy . They were conned , and now they can see for themselves they were lied to for their vote only.

who want to bankrupt and kill ill Americans. After hundreds of phone call over the past 3 years I was finally feeling that I could relax and know I have healthcare. Now I am back to where I started. I am exhausted from the anxiety and stress on top of several pre-existing conditions. The stress is not good for anyone's health, especially those who are already ill. No wonder the suicide rate in the US is increasing. People can't live like this. It is cruel.
