CNN) -- Two Chicago police officers were killed Monday after being struck by a metra train, authorities said.

Conrad Gary and Eduardo Marmolejo were responding to a shots fired call on the city's South Side when a passing train hit them, Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told reporters.

Metra

Metra (reporting mark METX) is a commuter railroad in the Chicago metropolitan area. The railroad operates 242 stations on 11 different rail lines. It is the fourth busiest commuter rail system in the United States by ridership and the largest and busiest commuter rail system outside the New York City metropolitan area. There were 83.4 million passenger rides in 2014, up 1.3% from the previous year. The estimated busiest day for Metra ridership occurred on November 4, 2016—the day of the Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series victory rally.

I just copied it the way it was. Didn't think of the correct spelling. (I am a, a very poor speller.) I have ridden Metra trains hundreds of times. I should have noticed the error in the story. I figured they knew how to spell. I might add where the incident took place is about 30 miles from where I live. Metra trains go all over the Chicago area in most of the suburbs and of course to downtown Chicago.

I wasn't trying to get on your case, because I knew that the error had originated back in CNN.

They're in Atlanta; what would they know?

The phone probably started ringing the second that article went online. Update for 2018: the tweets started Twittering the second that article went online.

Enjoy the season.

Two cops on rail tracks and they do not here the train?? This is very dumb. They were looking for a criminal and they could not watch out for their own welfare?? I always thought there were to many people given badge and a gun and that was a dangerous situation. I would say, "two people taken out of the gene pool." R.I.P.
