Poll: Americans can agree that the nation is divided. Beyond that, they don't agree on much.

Source: USA Today

With a new divided government about to take charge in Washington, Americans agree that the nation is more divided — and not on much else.

In a USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll, Republicans voters worry that newly empowered congressional Democrats will go too far in investigating Trump and his administration. Democrats worry they won't go far enough. Republicans want Congress to start the year by reducing illegal immigration and funding Trump's border wall. Democrats want Congress to begin by addressing health care.

"It's the framework for gridlock," says David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, with "passionate partisans disagreeing on virtually every issue."

Just about everybody does agree on this: By an overwhelming 78 percent-11 percent, those surveyed say the country has become more divided since Trump took office in January 2017, not more united.

as the Dems put forth bills that the majority of Americans agree with, it will show that the repub Senate needs to take those bills up. The country will see that the Dems want to more forward. As for the investigations, the majority of Americans want not only that, but a check on trump.

They can all pile into the former confederacy and a few plains states. We'll take the rest and call it an uncontested divorce. And when their reichwing, libertarian wet dream turns into Somalia, don't come crying to us. Then and only then will WE build a wall.

With the 30% here, it's "remember the good ol' days before the civil war?" and "how can we blame this on some minority?"

All the polls on the main issues show by a huge margin that we want single payer; free public college; environmental protections; renewable energy; rebuilding our infrastructure; income equality; free child care; increased SS benefits;Immigration reform etc etc etc. Merry Christmas to all of us. Children are taught not to act like Trump. Someone forgot to teach Trump. This PINO is a thug who stole the election and turned the presidency into a criminal enterprise and is now going about the country recruiting loyalists and brownshirts for his coming attempt to become a dictator. 100 people with guns think they are tough until they come up against a thousand people with guns. Then they are just stupid.
