Trump: Drones are 'lots of fun,' but only a 'good old fashioned wall' works

Source: The Hill

BY KYLE BALLUCK - 12/23/18 09:29 AM EST

President Trump in a tweet on Sunday stressed his promised wall as the key to border security, saying "drones and the rest are wonderful and lots of fun."

“The only way to stop drugs, gangs, human trafficking, criminal elements and much else from coming into our Country is with a Wall or Barrier,” he said. “Drones and all of the rest are wonderful and lots of fun, but it is only a good old fashioned Wall that works!”

The tweet came on the second day of a partial government shutdown, after Congress missed a midnight funding deadline on Friday.

Lawmakers are warning they believe roughly a quarter of the government could remain shuttered well into the week.

A wall was a good idea in the 1st century.

I agree with Gen George Patton that "fixed fortifications are monuments to man's stupidity." People will either overcome them or else they will fall simply because it was such a stupid idea to put a barrier between people in the first place. It doesn't just crack up human society, it also cracks up both individual psyches along with the collective unconscious. Remember the egregore of fascism that has corrupted our psyches and societies and continues to do so .... People are not meant to be separated, confined, or controlled. The Native Americans knew this. As Peat reveals in Blackfoot Physics, their system of justice was always designed to keep people together and to restore harmony and balance both to society and to nature.

the Great Wall of China worked. I believe the Mongols ran right through/ over the wall. The following is a quote about the effectiveness of that wall

"Rumoured to have been built using the dead, the construction took hundreds of years and some people still mistakenly believe it’s visible from the Moon. However, as a defensive measure against invading forces, it has been about as useful to China as a Bible on a battlefield. It can give you comfort, but it just won’t stop the enemy."

military drones.

Does he not understand the power of military drones for both bombing and surveillance?

Forget the context of the border and the wall, how could he dismiss drones?

Does he not understand their professional use in our military and in law enforcement?

This makes my head spin.

People walk and drive back and forth across the border every day. They go to work, shop, go to the doctor, just for the heck of it. Beto O'Rourke's first date with his wife was to walk across the border to go to the world famous Kentucky Club in Juarez. Not to mention the millions of "illegals" who entered the US on student, tourist and temporary worker visas who just stayed when their visas expired.

We also need to address the myth that undocumented workers depress wages. The effect is negligible at most, and it's mostly at the low end of the wage scale. So yeah, if you're a high school drop out who never got their GED, you might have to compete with undocumented workers for the low wage, unpleasant jobs that they do. But is the cure for that problem to get rid of the undocumented workers, or is it to get your high school diploma or GED so you can get a better job?

We tell Trump there’s a great golf course in Berlin he just has to play.

The second he lands, we drive him straight to Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall Museum, and make him view all the ways people escaped over the Berlin Wall.

And if he still doesn’t think a wall is impenetrable, we take him to Drawsko Pomorskie, Poland, and leave him there.

"Airplanes are interesting toys, but of no military value."

And after forcing the Kaiser's Germany to sue for peace, that generation of military thinkers proceeded to create the Maginot line, a state-of-the-art implementation of fortresses. Which the next generation of German military bypassed on their way to Paris

Old-fashioned only implies that somebody came up with a countermeasure that rendered it obsolete generations ago

It's got nothing to do with security. It's an attempt to compensate for his - and possibly his supporters', expressed vicariously through his rage and outrage - shortcomings

At first, a sane person might think, "are Trump supporters really this stupid?"

And then comes the answer: Yes. Yes, they are. They really believe all the drugs that come into this country from Mexico are hauled in on foot by some little guy with a sombrero, a huge rucksack and a burro.
