Donald Trump insists shutdown will not end unless Congress funds border wall
Source: The Guardian and agencies
Donald Trump has marked Christmas Day by insisting the partial shutdown of the federal government will last until his demand for funds to build a wall on the US-Mexico border is met.
The US government partially shut down on Saturday, and there is not yet any sign of tangible efforts to reopen agencies closed by a political impasse over Trumps demand for border wall funds.
I cant tell you when the government is going to reopen, Trump said, speaking after a Christmas Day video conference with US troops serving abroad. I can tell you its not going to reopen until we have a wall, a fence, whatever theyd like to call it. Ill call it whatever they want, but its all the same thing. Its a barrier from people pouring into the country, from drugs.
He added: If you dont have that [the wall], then were just not opening.

(36,461 posts)The media will show stories of people affected by the shutdown & start pointing the finger at the dems & within 48 hours the narrative will turn & it will be the dems shutdown. He has also made the government shutdown the priority for Congress when they return. I just can't believe we can't rid ourselves of this evil fucker.
Mr.Bill
(24,284 posts)he will take all the blame and he is proud to shut down the government.
The DNC need to turn that video into an ad and spend some money putting it all over TV. And an audio version on radio. Make it so no one can get through a day without hearing it.
CrispyQ
(36,461 posts)As far as the DNC, they should have done that already! They had one small window to brand it the Trump Shutdown & they let it pass. Now he is tweeting non-stop about the "democrats" shutdown & since the media reports every tweet, it will soon officially be the democrats shutdown.
My gripe is with the DNC in so many cases like this. It's like they don't recognize that a part of getting elected, & creating & passing legislation is marketing.

(3,335 posts)Skitzo's " no the Dems did it. The more we ignore him the better. Nancy said that the Dems would re-open the Government when the Dems take over on Jan 3 and I take her at her word. Yes they can still produce commercials with Drump taking responsibility, but I don't think it will matter one way or the other. Drumpf is on camera as taking responsibility for the shutdown, and the majority of the American people aren't stupid.
All I want for Christmas is an indictment of Drumpf from Mueller. Make it happen Santa.

(11,885 posts)Since the longer this goes on the more republicans will be voted out of office for this happening , and allowing it to continue without doing something, so he's hurting them by doing this. He won't be running, and probably forced to resign before long anyway. The Senate will be next to be flipped against him, and he won't be able to do anything from it,and be under even more pressure as they zero in on him and all his corruption. He's destroying all other republicans chances , and the longer they wait and do nothing, the fewer will be left after the 2020 election. Its backfiring on trump , and killing the remaining republicans chances.

Me thinks Drumpf is bringing troops from Syria home sooner than what military wants,
and use that money to build the Wall.

I got some savings- my fellow workers and I are so pissed at this bastard we will hold out, get another job, or will just be happy to get food from a food bank. Make this a hole go down. It is 100% on him.

Remember that 25 amendment? Section 4!
Do you believe the Democrats will agree with ANY Republican for the selection of a VP? Remember they went nuclear on the supreme court justice nominee and forbade to vote on Obama's supreme court pick.
