Steve King controversy deepens, with Liz Cheney now calling for resignation
Source: Roll Call
The No. 3 House Republican is calling on Rep. Steve King to resign, exposing a rift among GOP leaders as the controversy over the Iowa Republican continues coming to a head.
I agree with Leader McConnell actually. I think he should find another line of work, House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., said Tuesday morning. That was a reference to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who on Monday said if King did not know what was wrong with white supremacy and white nationalism, as he said in a recent New York Times article, he should get out of politics.
I think you've seen now repeated this wasnt the first time but his language questioning whether or not the notion of white supremacy is offensive is absolutely abhorrent. Its racist. We do not support it or agree with it, Cheney said.
Other Republicans, notably Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, and Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, have also called on King to resign.

(4,341 posts)Suddenly they don't like white supremacists, even though the orange buffoon has declared himself one many times, so where did King fall out of line with the repubs? He must have done something else, maybe he criticized the orange buffoon in close quarters? Its not like King hasn't been saying crap like this before, and for a long time...throwing him under the bus must be because of another reason, we all know repubs are racists, I am not buying this.

One more election with King and the seat may turn.

(37,648 posts)that is unlike some others. If King is allowed to openly declare white supremacy views, how long until he's allowed to stoke the hate against LGBT?
Maybe not. But it crosses my mind that this is the instance she makes national comments against a fellow Republican.

(37,648 posts)As I recall, even hardened far right hawk Dick Cheney, anti-abortion, anti-human rights, wouldn't say anything against gays, because of his daughter. If I recall correctly.
was the first national politiician (from either party) to support civil unions for gays.
