Warren expected to announce candidacy on Feb. 9

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is expected to formally announce her plans to run for president next week in an event that follows her New Years Eve exploratory-bid filing.
In a message posted Thursday evening on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, the Massachusetts Democrat told supporters to expect a major announcement on Feb. 9.
One month ago today, we launched this presidential exploratory committee to build a grassroots movement to level the playing field for working people, she wrote. Since then, weve traveled to Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, & heard from thousands of people all across the country. Ill be making a BIG announcement about my 2020 plans on Saturday, February 9.
After the Feb. 9 event, Warren is expected to immediately ramp up her campaign travel schedule.

(17,390 posts)She is a Democrat. She is a progressive. And she has been fighting for the middle class even long before she ran for elective office. She is both a policy wonk, as well as an effective advocate for the needs of the 99 percent. Finally, she can communicate her progressive message without pandering to Russia or using dog whistles to appeal to xenophobia or racism.

(3,257 posts)Plenty of great candidates. From here out its about putting together an organization. Obama had the best organization I have ever seen. He even had a staff memeber at the precinct caucus. We had a record turnout that year. I think a lot of our candidates focus on the media too much and overlook the local level, but then I am severely biased against the MSM and refuse to watch it. Multi millionaire talking heads interviewing billionairs-not worth my time. All politics is local. It's on the job, at the bar, at the coffee shop and in the neighborhood. We take back the country one door at a time.
