The Virginia Legislative Black Caucus (VLBC) called on Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax (D) to resign Friday after a second woman came forward to accuse him of sexual assault.
The group of state legislators had initially refrained from calling for the lieutenant governor to step aside this week, but issued the statement Friday night amid mounting calls for him to resign after a woman accused him of rape.

The statement came hours after a woman named Meredith Watson came forward through her lawyer to accuse Fairfax of raping her in 2000 when they were both students at Duke University.
Her lawyer called the alleged attack premeditated and aggressive, adding that Watson had told multiple friends of the encounter immediately after it happened.

(1,220 posts)I certainly hope Fairfax doesn't wind up the only one forced from office.
Take the pubican approach, Lt. Gov. Fairfax, deny deny deny he said she said I'm innocent until proven guilty this was a consensual encounter the will of the voters and all those other pubican tactics.
Works for them. They're all still in office.
DEMOCRATS! We're being ratfcked across the country. Stay in office until me too becomes them too.

(1,220 posts)The answer is equal application of the law. If it's always just us then we're going to be extinct. Do you really think we should automatically quickly acquiesce to every pubican ratfking operation? Can't we call a time out until we find out exactly what is happening here or should we just pave the way for four more years of far more complete evil?

I tended believe the Kavanaugh accuser, because she faced an onslaught of persecution with her accounts. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I haven't heard anything from either of these women. In this day and age when politics trumps ethics and honestly, I think he at least deserves a hearing...maybe not public, but at least needs to be able to face his accusers with accusations.
Got much more to say, but I'll probably catch enough backlash off just this bit.
"Somebody get a rope..." Good at tossing whoever under the bus...??

(36,802 posts)So the VLBC says that accusations alone are enough to force a black man out of office.
Don't even need any further investigation.

Who's leaning on them -- or do they have the right to remain anonymous?
