House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy: Pelosi and Democrats caved on Trump's border barrier demand
Source: CNBC
"The Democrats have now agreed to more than 55 miles of new barrier being built," says the California Republican.
"The Democrats changed course when they said, 'There would be no detention beds,'" says McCarthy. "They backed away on that."

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday characterized the tentative government funding deal as Democrats caving on President Donald Trump's demand for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had said "'no money for a wall;' that's not the case," the California Republican said in a "Squawk Box" interview. "The Democrats have now agreed to more than 55 miles of new barrier being built."
Congressional negotiators said they reached a tentative deal late Monday to fund the government and avoid another shutdown. A congressional source told CNBC it would put about $1.4 billion toward physical barriers, but not the concrete wall that the president wants.
Trump's demand for $5.7 billion to build 215 miles of wall along the southern U.S. border led to a funding stalemate in December and a record-long, 35-day partial government shutdown.

(571 posts)it is not. Shame on your headline. It is compromise. Democrats know how and when to compromise.

(630 posts)to sell this bill to trump, before Hannity and Coultergeist get ahold of him. They know this is a bad look for trump, given what he already turned down, but they also know they can't have another shutdown. Hilarious.

(15,273 posts)instead of the truth. It won't take more than a few minutes for Trump to convince himself to believe it.
The fact is, DHS asked for 1.3B in their first budget request and that's just about what they got.

There should be no compromise with traitors. If they wanted another shutdown, they should have it. Look how well it worked out for them last time.
Now, they have another "victory" to crow about.
Build the wall around the Democratic House and Senate delegations and allow NO illegal alien trump ideas to enter.

Absolutely miniscule coverage of Trump employing hundreds of undocumented workers. Just that coverage would be devastating to Trump. I saw one segment on Ari Melber that covered this.
If these immigrants are so dangerous why does Trump hire so many of them? The rest of his workers he hires with visas, American workers aren't good enough or cheap enough for Trump.

(6,580 posts)From what I heard this morning, the Dems agreement [to fund 55 miles of barrier] will merely fulfill a previous agreement. It will complete a section of barrier that was agreed upon but never completed. Sorry, but I didn't hear under which which administration the previous agreement was made.
