'Heirs of the Confederacy' protested in Chapel Hill: 'Go home racists'

A small group calling themselves “Heirs of the Confederacy” were drowned out by a much larger group of anti-racist protesters in Chapel Hill on Saturday.

The group gathered to protest the removal of “Silent Sam,” a bronze statue commemorating a Confederate soldier.

“Join us as we protest the anti confederate hysteria espoused by authorities, officials, students, faculty, staff and organizations in Chapel Hill/UNC that have succumbed to a state of anarchy and utter disregard for the rule of law,” Heirs of the Confederacy said while promoting the event.

The group was met by a much larger group protesting racism.

I find celebration of that enemy, on US soil, to be disgusting, and it ought to be a felony to display artifacts, symbols, flags, etc., of the Confederacy.
