Los Angeles woman who beat elderly man with a brick sentenced to 15 years

Source: NBC News

LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in the beating of a 92-year-old man that was captured on video and shared widely on social media.

Thirty-year-old Laquisha Jones was sentenced Thursday following her no contest plea to elder abuse in December.

Prosecutors say Jones severely beat Rodolfo Rodriguez in the face with a brick on July 4 as the man was taking a walk. They say Rodriguez did nothing to provoke the attack.

The case wasn't prosecuted as a hate crime.

Glad she's going to the slammer. She entered a no-contest plea back in December. Too bad it was not prosecuted as a hate crime.

allow such an assault against a senior member of our families or our neighbors, or anyone else for that matter? Our seniors deserve our respect as well as our help. She should got have more, if anything, just to send a signal to other scumbags that this is not tolerated in this country what-so-ever.

4. It's just what the prosecution was able to prove.

“You can either plead to elder abuse, or we can try you for assault with a deadly weapon.”
I mean, it’s not close to what she deserves, but it was probably the strongest case the prosecution had.
She’s 31years old. So she’ll miss her 30’s. Instead of going out with friends or having a family, she’ll be in a cage. She’ll be nearly 46 when she gets out. Hopefully she can figure out her life and get her bigotry under control in that time.

She'll also miss watching her daughter grow up, but perhaps that's not such a bad thing!
