Tucker Carlson offers no apology for saying 'naughty' things on a radio show

Source: Marketwatch

Fox News host Tucker Carlson, many years ago, would regularly call in and chat with the host of the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show. The idea, as it is with any shock-jock program, was to stir up a buzz by discussing some controversial topics.

... snip ...

One of those topics, according to the Media Matters website, focused on Warren Jeffs, who was on the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list for his role in arranging illegal marriages between adults and underage girls.

Carlson said criminal charges against Jeffs were “bullshit” because “arranging a marriage between a 16-year-old and a 27-year-old is not the same as pulling a stranger off the street and raping her.”

... snip ...

He didn’t stop there. Carlson called journalist Arianna Huffington a “pig,” and labeled Britney Spears and Paris Hilton “the biggest white whores in America.”

Carlson also referred to Martha Stewart’s daughter Alexis as “cunty.”

Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson, the favorite Fox host of white nationalists, has been fired - from CNN, MSNBC and PBS.

Which part - his support among the white right or his failed TV career before Fox ?

A long and somewhat depressing read on Tucker McNear Swanson Carlson includes:

Other vocal fans of Carlson include Richard Spencer, David Duke, and white nationalist website The Daily Stormer. On August 24, 2018, The Daily Stormer published a post that noted gleefully, “Tucker Carlson is basically ‘Daily Stormer: The Show.’ Other than the language used, he is covering all of our talking points.”

https://www.cjr.org/the_profile/tucker-carlson.php

A more fun read from Alex Prareen seven years ago:
https://www.salon.com/2012/04/26/tucker_carlsons_downward_spiral/

Tucker McNear Swanson Carlson falsely claims that he resigned from CNN, but he was fired.
https://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/06/business/media/cnn-will-cancel-crossfire-and-cut-ties-to-commentator.html

He and Paul Gigot were hired to do right wing propaganda at PBS by Cheney-Bush Crime Syndicate operative Kenneth Y. Tomlinson. There were lots of complaints and a number of local affiliates wouldn’t run the shows. By the time Tomlinson was forced to resign over miscellaneous shenanigans (ghost employees, misappropriation of funds, running a horse racing business, using government employees for personal use - you know, Republican stuff) Tucker McNear Swanson Carlson had moved to MSNBC and Gigot to Fox.

By 2008, somebody at MSNBC figured out that cable TV didn’t two Foxes, and Tucker McNear Swanson Carlson was let go.

It must have been awkward for Tucker McNear Swanson Carlson to finally settle for Fox after all the nasty things he’d said about them ( "I don't know who would want to watch that shit. Do you?" ), but that TV money is too sweet to pass up.

because the hours he spent watching this garbage eventually got to him. I heard him say he watched fox for hours in preparation for his show. That would take its toll on any sentient being. He is missed.

He should have assigned "watching Faux News" to people on his staff, and it could have been a rotating assignment. Rachel Maddows and Lawrence O'Donnell have staff researchers who do most of the legwork for show preparation. Jon could have had a team working for him too, and it wouldn't have taken such a toll on him.

I do hope Jon Stewart comes back to TV eventually.

He was on CNN, I think, on the show "Crossfire." While he was an obvious conservative, he wasn't this vile and demented. What the hell happened to him? Or was the conservative Carlson of years ago just a put-on, hiding his real self, that was freed by the rise of the hateful alt-right?

He goes past conservative values. This is outright hatred of individuals, women in particular. Was he radicalized? Maybe so.

CNN probably didn't allow it. Crossfire ended over 10 years ago, and I don't think I watched it after a while. My work hours increased or I got bored with it or it changed time slot. It wasn't as good a show as it had been. I had watched it when Mike Kinsley was on, representing the left.

The statements in that article in the OP were for a radio show 10 years ago.

to make those comments. He thought he was safe making those comments there. Apparently he was a frequent guest, as more tapes are surfacing. He had to go somewhere to get it out of his system. My guess he still talks like that when he is surrounded by his bros.
