Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, posted a meme to Facebook Saturday about a hypothetical civil war. (CQ Roll Call file photo)
Rep. Steve King posted a meme Saturday about a hypothetical civil war between blue states fighting over which bathroom to use and red states with trillions of bullets.
The post is an image of two figures composed of traditionally Democratic-leaning and Republican-leaning states in fighting postures with text superimposed over top. The caption reads: Folks keep talking about another civil war. One side has about 8 trillion bullets, while the other side doesnt know which bathroom to use.
Wonder who would win? the Iowa Republican wrote on Facebook.....................................

(35,072 posts)8 trillion bullets? But only 5 million hold them. A good hunter doesn't need semi auto, just one bullet, one 'deer'. They think we're a bunch of cowards. Someone starts shooting at me or mine, he'll go down. His bullets are then mine. Arms conversion, just like that. Better dead, than red.

(1,201 posts)He is instigating violence between citizens of America. It's not Red America or Blue America, it is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA which Rep King is trying to divide into violent opponents while encouraging fights. Some will see his comments as support for violent acts and his history of encouraging radical violence should be enough to expel him from congress. His 'We are better armed so 'We' will win'...with trillions of bullets. Promoting civil war is not defending the constitution by any means. Expel Rep King now!

(16,725 posts)At least censure would/ should shut his despicable racist mouth up? That said, I would love to see him kicked out and humiliated. He should have been before now.

They want a second go? I certainly hope not, and it won't be. I suspect a few random attacks when the stinker in the WH is evicted, but nothing more
They'll crawl back in their hole

(26,291 posts)After all why should blue state money be used in red states governed by people that refuse to do things that will help all of their states people and instead do things to keep them and their party in power?

(6,173 posts)Well, I guess that means they win. We all know revolutions are won by bullets.
What a dildo!

(5,275 posts)I see this as a not so veiled threat. Combine this with the increasingly unhinged tweet barrage from the Orange Fuhrer and we are getting deeper into uncharted and dangerous territory.
Orange Twitler seems to be getting crazier and crazier, all combined with dumb and a total lack of empathy.

(28,256 posts)Here's a novel concept: How about maintaining what's left of our democratic republic, and not falling to the level of evil pricks like Steve King, donald trump, et al? Just a thought, from somebody treading water in that gene pool.

(13,582 posts)Im an Idaho democrat. States dont come redder than Idaho so I get the whole fight the good fight thing - and I do my part. But the odds of enlightening a state full of Mormon potato farmers, Aryan Nations leftovers, and now militant Redoubt members are slim to none.
The only hope we have in this red state is a massive number of people re-locating from Seattle and Portland.
If Idaho left the union, Id move the 35 miles west into Washington state.

(13,582 posts)Since we both know this red state thing aint gonna happen, we need to keep up the push for progress. We had the first Native American progressive woman run for governor this last election cycle. Proud as hell I got to help that happen.
I was born in Idaho - then a progressive Democratic state with a proud union tradition. Shift happens. Things change. Stay cool and never quit!

(394 posts)While the states have changed around a bit it's still pretty much the south against the north and the red states still haven't learned. The reason they lost the civil war wasn't because they didn't have enough bullets it was because they didn't have the factories that produced the bullets. They still don't and now they don't have the technology on their side either.
This is not a knock on anyone in the south, they have far more industry than they did 150 years ago and they have a far better education system than then but the simple fact of the matter is that the money, innovation and industry has stayed in the north and moved to the west coast too.

(16,725 posts)I mean no disrespect as Georgia is beautiful and there are millions of good people there. The dilapidated houses, particularly the older, larger (anti-bellum) ones was sad to see. We have not, as a nation, recognized or addressed the economic disparity caused by generations of the wealthy controlling everything. And it started before the Civil War and continued unchecked as "Reconstruction" was derailed by greedy, wealthy interests.

(26,109 posts)Was raised in one of those towns that had never recovered. I think it was because of this that I never heard anyone speak positively about the Civil War, or even hear anyone talk about the Civil War at all.
All that changed when talk radio and the You might be a redneck if guy became popular.
The county voted blue until the 2000 elections, when for the first time they voted on electronic voting machines.
Evolve Dammit
(16,725 posts)The voting machine manipulation (hack able) is a national problem that has not been addressed since the painfully obvious 2000 election debacle. It is still a huge concern for those who pay attention (a minority). You are so right about AM radio (unchecked by any alternate "news" or viewpoints in a large swath of the U.S.) The money goes to the networks and organizations controlling the right-wing, keep 'em down messaging 24/7/365. Fox, Limbaugh, and all the rabid faithful.

(50,557 posts)...but blue states have people who can breach roads, close off access to seaports, pipe satanic heavy metal into churches, convert 24 Hour Talk Radio stations into 24 Hour Ozzy stations, edit NFL broadcasts so all 92 players on both sides look like Colin Kaepernick, make Jim Bakker Prepper Food taste even worse than it already does, and do everything else they possibly can to take away the red states' will to live.

(59,585 posts)The "Lucky Gunner" website brought up 9 mm ammunition for $150/1000, so that's about $1.2 trillion in all.
No wonder the red states have such shitty infrastructure and schools - they've already spent 8.3% of US GDP on ammunition.
