President Trump Calls for the 'Forced' Resignation of Rep. Adam Schiff

President Donald Trump is calling for the resignation of one of his fiercest critics in U.S. Congress: Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA).
After an earlier tweet that seemed to indicate a more transcendent Commander in Chief, in which he revealed that he has learned to live with what he considers a crazy Fake News media (and promised to share his secret!) President Trump has returned to a more vengeful demeanor in calling for the resignation of Rep. Schiff. Trump tweeted:

Rep. Schiff is the current chair of the House Intel committee and a dogged critic of President Trump. He has also refused to accept Attorney General William Barrs four-page letter that summarized the highly anticipated Mueller Report in a manner that was most favorable to Mr. Trump.
During an interview with The Washington Post that was published Wednesday, Schiff doubled down on his claim of collusion saying Undoubtedly, there is collusion, he told the paper. We will continue to investigate the counterintelligence issues.

(38,419 posts)Very sad and stupid statement. A critic of the President of the United States, because of his actions, is told by the President of the United States that Congress should force his resignation. This is almost an impeachable statement.

(9,090 posts)assholes attack schiff on a regular basis. all this built onto 2 full years of calling it part of a coup by obama clinton soros and the 'deep state'. we ignore 1500 radio stations doing that and expect good results - it won't happen. the prefix for any response to jordan and trump and meadows and republicans when they lie about this stuff should be "well. that's what limbaugh said, but...." - they are dittoheads, teabaggers
they need the left to continue to ignore the dipshit liars hiding behind call screeners - enabling this obstruction. it's the only real advantage trump and the republicans have and we even let 88 major universities support 260 limbaugh stations.
democrats need offense if we don't want the republicans to intimidate enough blue dogs in talk radio states to enable the kind of compromises based on talk radio-generated "court of public opinion' and 'what the people want' bullshit that will shoot this country further down the road to authoritarianism
SWBTATTReg
(22,112 posts)know these facts on DU, I am just wondering how/what are you proposing to 'stop' or 'end' all of this? Step on the first amendment rights of students in those Universities for example in shutting down the 260 L stations? As young as AOC is, I don't think we (democratic party) don't really have an issue with the universities/youth of this country, since AOC still won as a democratic candidate and since rump still complained about 'free speech' still being stifled (according to him) on the universities and issued an 'executive order' to that effect.
So something is kind of at a disconnect between rump still complaining about free speech at universities and all of the rush l. radio stations.
I think in reality, bombastic radio and TV have lost their effectiveness (obviously). The so called president constantly lies and is toxic. People know this. So what if there are xxx numbers of broadcast stations radiating pro rump propaganda? These broadcast stations probably losing money for the owners. The internet is stripping away the value of a lot of these assets and I hope that the current owners are suffering (they should, competition). All of these broadcasting stations don't mean a hoot when no one listens (or at least, the vast majority of Americans that do not support rump do not).
I thought we were doing pretty good despite all of this vast array of supposed radio and/or TV pro-rump stations when we won control of the House of Rep. in the Nov. 2018 elections.

(9,090 posts)aimed t liberals and democrats from 1500 corporate think tank-coordinated radio stations (and probably kremlin too).
winning the house is a minimum and who knows by what spread we actually had to win to get by the voter suppression and cheating?
how does ignoring that make any sense? if trump/putin would pay $1000/hr for radio infomercials 1200 radio stations x 15 hrs/day are worth $5BIL/year FREE for them. you can't have real democracy letting 40 states with 80 senators get blasted all day with their shit. fox is just the cartoon cliff notes for talk radio, which dominates rural states with coordinated unchallenged locally coordinated messaging - there are no free easy alts for politics while driving, working, doing chores - it's fox x 100
and dems just walk on by
limbaugh just called for boycotts of the "liberal media" - that's free speech.... universities helping deny global warming and defunding public ed is okay? all those schools need to be asked what they would do if the KKK bought the station. yeah the stations are losing billions but it's worth trillions in GW denial, war, tax breaks, deregulation, supremes, etc
people living in major cities often have no idea - here's a primer on RW radio - with some ides on how to destroy what is the only major advantage the cons have over democrats - republiconradio.org
ignoring that simple math continues to be the biggest political mistake in history and it's being used right now to attack dem investigators and to force republicans into getting obama and his admin under oath - it's bullshit and dems are going to keep bending over for limbaugh until the left goes on offense. and talk radio is by far the most vulnerable target - and likely the most devastating when democrats finally do it.

(22,112 posts)Do you have any answers or solutions? Probably not, since this is the 2nd time at least you've thrown this up as a post (that I'm aware of), and that's fine, but you haven't listed a single viable solution, other than the doom and gloom you are throwing up here. As I said, all of this doom and gloom didn't seem to negatively impact the 2018 Nov. elections (it may have a little, but not enough obviously).
certainot
(9,090 posts)the 20-1 monopoly is not a representation of american market demand for fascism, hate and lies and the blowhards are not 'political entertainers' enjoying free speech rights - it's a coordinated propaganda operation
the least americans can do is monitor their local rw stations and the dem party and allied associations are negligent and stupid for not doing it. they don't even poll for talk radio - the only reason we have trump.
in the last year or so it got a lot faster easier and cheaper to transcribe talk radio - it needs to be digitized so it can finally be forced to become part of the free speech spectrum. now all the advertisers can easily be associated with the hate and lies and global warming denial - it would be stoprush x 10
the ad industry will start having to ask advertisers if they really want to support trump - or risk their clients anger when they become exposed
protesting the universities until they start looking for apolitical alternatives will speed up the flight of advertisers from rw radio. as soon as one or two unis start looking others will follow. the discussion alone will scare the crap out of the republicans and that will draw media and make it all worse. advertisers will flee.
it would be the easiest and most offensive activism prog orgs could do to make themselves more effective.
you'll find some of that at republicanradio.org

(95 posts)You got that right. That's what he does because he has a pea brain and can only see himself. It's also the standard for a lot of Republicans. I said in an earlier post "looks like they got a Tiger by the tail" They thought that weak brain of his and lack of any solid positions on anything he would be easily manipulated and controlled to do their bidding. It has worked in some regards. This might be just wishful thinking on my part, but it will soon backfire as we are witnessing before our eyes. 2018 they got an ass whopping the Republicans. They have cleansed the party of moderates. Kiss the ring or be gone. I hope he does destroy the Republican party.
I also wish and it is only a wish. The press would stop following him around on the White House lawn like dogs after a dog in heat, for some mock press briefing while the the helicopter muffles questions being asked. He avoids the regular Press briefings that normal Presidents had before he smashed a lot of norms. Don't cover his damn sickening rallies. Send an intern. Film it record it and send to the News outlets what's relevant. This is only a wish.

(10,010 posts)The question becomes, was the President using his constitutionally given powers to do the obstructing, or did the President overstep the powers granted to him?
Does the President always have the power to demand resignations and replace people, or are there limits? Can the President discuss with his staff certain events as he supposedly recalls them and demand to be updated on all governmental investigations, or are there limits? The report surely indicates multiple times where Trump may have overstepped his powers merely to protect and/or enrich himself...Mueller wanted congress to decide.
The entire report needs to be available to the entire Congress. Even if it is determined Trump was within his Presidential powers to effectively meddle in and try to, or succeed, obstructing the investigation, Congress should debate the merits of redefining those Presidential Powers. Do they truly want this type of behavior from another President??
I also find it curious that Trump tweeted Schiff "unlawfully lied". Does Trump believe the Presidency gives him the power to "legally lie" to the American people? It certainly appears that way.

(3,433 posts)His first tweet was an attempt to draw the media in by claiming he is no longer going to be outraged by fake news. He follows that up with a tyrannical rant in the hopes that the media will latch on and make this their headline story thereby drawing attention away from Mueller. What Trump fails to recognize is that this only makes everyone more suspicious.
