More 'heartbeat' abortion bans advancing in South, Midwest

Source: Associated Press

If a new Mississippi law survives a court challenge, it will be nearly impossible for most pregnant women to get an abortion there.

Or, potentially, in neighboring Louisiana. Or Alabama. Or Georgia.

The Louisiana legislature is halfway toward passing a law — like the ones enacted in Mississippi and Georgia — that will ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, about six weeks into a pregnancy and before many women know they’re pregnant. Alabama is on the cusp of approving an even more restrictive bill.

State governments are on a course to virtually eliminate abortion access in large chunks of the Deep South and Midwest. Ohio and Kentucky also have passed heartbeat laws; Missouri’s Republican-controlled legislature is considering one.

8. Kennedy stepped down - blackmailed actually - by trump and associates

in exchange for dropping the prosecution of his son for illegal financial activities overseas. The whole matter was then swept under the carpet.

This was a blerb that ran for one day in the news and then disappeared.

3. Have any of these asshats noticed that women have heartbeats, too?

Maybe the rule should be that if a woman has a discernible heartbeat you have to leave her the fuck alone.

5. Pew found @36% of Repubs are pro-abortion...

Far better the hard-core RW does this now than after they got control of our government and courts. Enough for people to see and realize what would come next.

6. Which entity is behind the legislation?

It is useful to know where the legislation is actually being devised and sent to the receptive legislators.

Is there a specific "ant-think tank" engaged in this or an organization such as ALEC which produces model legislation?

9. I feel so sorry ...

For women of child-bearing age and for young girls who will be forced to have a baby by a rapist, or because of incest.

Roe vs Wade will be overturned, and there isn't very much anyone can do about it.
