Teacher charged with threatening to 'shoot up' her school

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) A North Carolina teacher has been charged with threatening to "shoot up" her school.
A news release from the Orange County Sheriff's Office says Kristen Thompson was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of communicating a threat of mass violence.
The sheriff's office says Thompson abruptly resigned Friday from Pathways Elementary School in Hillsborough. It says other teachers reported that Thompson "made threats to shoot up the school."

(to be clear, it's REALLY GOOD she was turned in before a tragedy, otherwise, I wouldn't be making light about the whole thing, obviously)

(45,433 posts)NRA types who want to arm teachers have clearly forgotten what school was like. There are plenty of teachers who lose their tempers with irritating students or administrators.

(13,975 posts)and he thinks arming teachers is a terrible idea. For one, a few students maybe could overpower the teacher and get access to the gun and second, what you said, a bad tempered teacher on a bad day with a bad student could lead to tragedy.
