Donald Trump to get tanks for his July 4 celebration in Washington

WASHINGTON – The Pentagon has approved President Donald Trump's request for a display of tanks in conjunction with his "Salute to America" celebration on the National Mall here on the Fourth of July, the president said Monday.

Trump confirmed that the tanks will be parked near the National Mall for the July 4 celebration, the president said during remarks in the Oval Office.

"We're gonna have some tanks stationed outside," Trump said. "You know we're making a lot of new tanks right now."

The Pentagon approved the display, the aide said. The Army declined to comment, referring questions to the Defense Secretary's office and the White House. White House aides, the Defense Department and the Army declined to comment.

Donald wanted a whole line of them moving in a parade where the treads would tear up the street. I imagine they can just tow them there on a regular tired vehicle? Perhaps non-functioning tanks for display that aren't as heavy?

the 120,000lb. load is spread over lots of rubber tires, hence no damage to the streets. But it's still crazy and un-American in my book!

13. I hope most Americans will join me in not viewing one minute of this lousy event on

July 4. In addition to ignoring it, the media will get a well-deserved low rating for once more propagating the image of one of the cruelest people on earth. We can do this and instead do something to bring more attention to what is going on on the border----. One would hope the media would do at least some kind of split-screen coverage of the parade with incidents at the concentration camps! That would improve my attitude toward the media a bit. Not much, but some.
