Former special counsel Robert Mueller will appear before Congress on July 24 instead of next Wednesday as initially planned, multiple lawmakers told POLITICO.
It is unclear why Muellers highly anticipated testimony was delayed.

(8,200 posts)Don't tell me about his Bronze Star as if that somehow provides him sort of American sainthood. I have two relatives that were highly decorated. Many honors above a Bronze Star, yet they are both avid racists and blind supporters of Trump. General Lee also hand a chest full of medals.

(51,627 posts)the official explanation according to CNN is that Mueller is giving the Dems more time to get their approach and questions strategically organized to get the most out of his testimony. I don't really buy it 100%.

Then, a fair and free election, as per the republican leadership. Get off your asses dems. Start the broadcasting right now. Just watched trumps shit show in front of helicopter noise. Lie, lie, lie, lie ,lie, lie, lie and media sucking up to it like Barr's face buried in trump's disease ridden crotch. Fuck this country as is. Why the hell did I serve? For this shit.

(3,433 posts)By failing to execute their oath of office they have dishonoured themselves and the constitution.
I know some people will disagree with me but I'm not going to debate this issue. It doesn't matter if the Senate fails to remove Trump from office. It doesn't matter.
This isnt a partisan matter. The votes matter but the obligation transcends party. They swore to support defend the constitution. They swore to discharge their duty and they did so without reservation. Everyone who was reelected last year knew full well that Trump was a criminal and yet they swore. Their inaction is unacceptable and makes me ashamed and disgusted.
This oath is not partisan. The constitution is not partisan. We are either a republic or we are not.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

(8,797 posts)I still adhere to it. It meant something. What good is having the house to only be safe to hope you keep it. What then, if you refuse to use the powers WE gave them. A few more years of the House that does nothing, is totally blocked, and they operate in fear, what is the point. The elections WILL be totally broken, so I do not trust we can keep the house under this criminal regime. So we lose all three branches. He walks free of all crimes, and we will not survive 4 more with the potential of many years of him in power. Move now. Strike like a cobra in danger or risk your head being lopped off. I will then uphold my oath at all costs. Not a threat, a promise to protect my daughter's future. Who would not risk death to protect your daughter? Chicken shit trump would even sacrifice the precious Ivanka if his fat ass were at risk. That I can tell you. Believe me. We will see what happens.

(3,433 posts)I am rapidly losing any sympathy what so ever. I would argue we are in a constitutional crisis that rivals the civil war. We have a Congress who simply does not have the will or desire to discharge their obligation.

(21,675 posts)The concern was particularly acute for the 41-member Judiciary Committee. As initially planned, each committee would have had just two hours to question Mueller, and more junior lawmakers on the Judiciary panel would have been shut out. Republicans spent Thursday and Friday slamming Democrats for cutting a deal that did not allow all committee members to question Mueller.
Youre disenfranchising everyone, Georgia Rep. Doug Collins, the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee said Friday.
WTF??? Did the Dems fall for the okey doke a-gain? This is infuriating!

Then, after the recess, they'll say "too close to the election".

(28,272 posts)Is Mueller any better than "Attorney General" Bill Barr? How about spending a fraction of the stalling time in a frank and straightforward discussion of the report? Is that just too fucking much to ask? Nadler and the rest of the Democrats on that House committee need to get ugly about this situation and produce some results.

(4,613 posts)Mueller offers to delay testimony one week to give lawmakers more time for questions
Former special counsel Robert S. Mueller II is offering to postpone his congressional testimony by one week to give lawmakers more time to question him about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Mueller was scheduled to appear before the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees on July 17 in a much-anticipated public appearance since he gave a short statement following the conclusion of his nearly two-year investigation.
His offer to appear instead on July 24 is being considered by the congressional panels, according to multiple officials familiar with the discussions who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive talks.
Muellers offer to delay comes as House Democrats on the Judiciary panel pressed their leaders for more time to question Mueller. Under the current agreement, Mueller would appear for two hours each before the Judiciary and Intelligence Committees. But due to five-minute questioning rules, only the most senior dozen or so Democrats and Republicans on Judiciary would get to ask questions, upsetting more junior members.

(15,650 posts)make more time for questioning? Ridiculous. The frigging report came out 4 months ago and now Muellers appearance is delayed even further? What in the fuck is more important that they need to delay a week? You would think we would just say enough as opposed to colluding by default in delaying, delaying, delaying for tRump/GOP advantage. No wonder the GOP gives a quarter-inch while we give a yard over and over and over again. Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

(54,770 posts)Were you told to let trump off the hook on collusion, conspiracy, etc? If not, why did you?
Do you think your report would have been different if you had more time, or the trump campaign were more forthcoming?
How much do you think obstruction affected your investigation?
Had trump not been Prez, would you have indicted him for obstruction?
Why did you come up with BS to let Kushner and Junior off the hook for trump tower meeting?
And more questions along that line that are straight and to the point.
The Chairperson should cut off the first Democrat that showboats. Don't guess there is much Chairperson can do about GOPers, but screw them.
