Macron booed at Bastille Day celebrations

French president gets icy reception on arrival at national day parade.

By JOSHUA POSANER AND RYM MOMTAZ 7/14/19, 12:41 PM CET

French President Emmanuel Macron was given an icy reception as he arrived at the annual Bastille Day parade in Paris on Sunday.

As Macron rode down the Champs-Elysées in Paris to open the traditional annual military parade, protesters standing on the sidewalks booed him in an audible and sustained manner.

It’s rare for political protests to take place during the parade, the focal point of celebrations across the country to mark France’s national day. Macron’s approval ratings have improved in recent weeks alongside a drop in participation in the anti-government Yellow Jackets movement.

Forces from the Paris-based European Intervention Initiative — which include troops from a range of EU countries — were included in the parade.

My wife suffered for 17 years with bad arches, deformed toes and varicose veins because of it.

Paris women finally allowed to wear trousers

The French government has overturned a 200-year-old ban on women wearing trousers.

The Minister of Women's Rights, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, said that the ban was incompatible with modern French values and laws.

She said the law, imposed on November 17, 1800, had in effect already been rescinded because of incompatibility.

The move to formally repeal the law followed a parliamentary question asked last year.

According to the law, women needed to have the permission of local police if they wanted to "dress like a man" and wear trousers.

Changes in acceptable women's wear take a while in France.

The military rules are clearly sexist. I hope your wife has found some relief.

Macron could have blamed the booing on trump.

Also --- isn’t it interesting how Macron is riding while standing in an open-top jeep.
