House Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) said Monday that he is expanding an investigation into Education Secretary Betsy DeVos personal email use.
In a letter to DeVos, Cummings said that he was acting due to information uncovered by the inspector general.
New information has now come to light indicating that you and other Department officials violated the Departments prohibition on using personal email accounts to conduct official business, violated the requirement in the Federal Records Act to forward these emails to your official account within 20 days, and violated the requirement in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to produce relevant records in response to public requests, Cummings wrote. This new information also indicates that you withheld from the Committee information it has been seeking on a bipartisan basis over the past two years.

(8,699 posts)Whatever will the Republicans do?
What is our master plan?
Talk them to death?
Start jailing people for contempt of congress.
Start pushing things through the courts to hold people accountable if they broke the law.
Why are we not looking at trump's tax returns?
What happened to his accounting firm's records?
Where are these "big" investigations that have gone absolutely nowhere?
The rich get to walk and poor people die in the streets.
Carlin was right "it's a big club and you aren't in it"

The Republicans don't give a God Damn what we do. As one "W" staffer once said:
"We Do, and you observe"
Truer words have never been spoken...........

(9,999 posts)Some Democrats seem still to be living during the days of Leave It to Beaver where conversation was always polite and problems were resolved with ease. Republicans long ago switched to the tactics of attack, attack, attack because some of it will stick. We seem to be fighting with good manners; Republicans are fighting with baseball bats and incivility, which their audience because a significant part of their audience is spoiling for a fight.

(2,844 posts)That's a large part of the reason why so many working class people vote for republicans. They love the 'tough guy' persona. The Democrats always try to play nice and when they raise a stink about something the republicans always start screaming "You're unpatriotic! You're un-American! You're a socialist! OMG, you're against freedom!" And then the Democrats cower back to their safe spaces and formulate a new 'be nice' tactic that also doesn't work. Republicans are off the rails and they don't give a diddly damn who or what they destroy so long as they get whatever it is they want.

(50,559 posts)The biggest issue last campaign, besides John Podestas child sex slave ring that never was, is Hillarys email server.
So the commercial I want to see is Trump speeches about her server interlaced with reports about the private email usage of the Trumpies.
And then, on January 20, 2021, at 12:30 pm, I want them beaten senseless by professional boxers, loaded into a C-130, stripped of identification, flown to Mexico and dumped out. Preferably while the plane is on the ground, but if they can only get down to 5000 feet AGL, thats okay too.
