Twitter has locked the account for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-Ky.) campaign after it shared a video of a protester's profanity-laced rant outside the senator's home.
A Twitter spokesperson told The Hill that the @Team_Mitch account was locked because a tweet "violated our violent threats policy, specifically threats involving physical safety."
McConnell campaign manager Kevin Golden told The Hill that the account was locked Wednesday morning "for posting the video of real-world, violent threats made against Mitch McConnell."
The McConnell campaign on Tuesday shared a video featuring protesters demonstrating outside the Kentucky senator's home. The video included Black Lives Matter Louisville leader Chanelle Helm repeatedly cursing and stating that she wished the GOP leader had "broken his little, raggedy, wrinkled-ass neck" instead of injuring his shoulder last weekend, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported.

He managed to quiet all the criticism of his refusal to even give a hearing to Merrick Garland (because he KNEW the fix was in for tRump to "win" He has padded his bank account with money from the NRA and Russia. Now, the curtain has been drawn back, and he does not like the exposure of his dirty dealings. I hope the citizens of Kentucky pay attention to all this truth. One (corrupt traitor) should not have this much power. Gun laws have been sitting on his desk for months, he refuses to bring them up for a vote.

A move by Twitter to freeze the account of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnells (R-Ky.) campaign has prompted a backlash by President Trumps campaign and national Republican groups, who have vowed to stop buying ads on the social media platform until the account is unfrozen.
On Wednesday, Twitter locked McConnells campaign account from further activity as punishment for its sharing of a video of protesters screaming obscenities outside the Kentucky Republicans home. The social media company said it will not unlock @Team_Mitch unless it agrees to remove the video.
Officials for the Trump campaign, the National Republican Committee, and the Republican Senate and House campaign arms accused Twitter of bias and tweeted Thursday that their organizations are withholding their advertising dollars until the issue is resolved.
#MassacreMitch trended on @Twitter for a full day, and they did nothing, Kevin McLaughlin, executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said in a tweet. Someone threatens to stab the Majority Leader, @TeamMitch posts the video and THEY get locked out. @NRSC is not spending $ until this is adequately addressed.
Richard Walters, chief of staff for the RNC, shared McLaughlins post and added: The @GOP and @TeamTrump stand with the @Team_Mitch and the @NRSC. Any future ad $ either organization was planning to spend with @Twitter has been halted until they address this disgusting bias.
