Barr cites 'failure' at NYC jail that held Epstein, says 'co-conspirators' should not rest easy

New Orleans (CNN)Attorney General William Barr said investigators are learning of "serious irregularities" at the New York jail where accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was found dead of an apparent suicide over the weekend.

"We are now learning of serious irregularities at this facility that are deeply concerning and demand a thorough investigation," Barr told a national policing conference in New Orleans on Monday morning.

Barr said he was "appalled" and "angry" to learn of the Metropolitan Correctional Center's "failure to adequately secure this prisoner."

Barr announced on Saturday that the FBI and the Justice Department's internal watchdog would investigate Epstein's death.

Kind of "two birds with one stone". Epstein is out of the way and now they have "cause" to fire whoever they want from SDNY. I am surprised more people have't wondered about this. The first thing Epstein's attorney mentioned was "overzealous prosecutors demanding a man with no flight risk be jailed....". They are going to fire them even though they had nothing to do with his incarceration.

It was not a 'failure' at NYC jail. MCC is a federal detention facility, overseen by Federal Bureau of Prisons, a subdepartment of DOJ, i.e. AG, i.e. Barr.

The biggest target for co-conspirator is Ghislaine Maxwell who hasn’t been charged and whose whereabouts aren’t known. We’ll see if anything comes of that.

I don’t see much more about the document dump. I flipped through some of it and saw Alan Dershowitz and Royal Palm Beach (mar a
Lago) in several places. Probably the most common location in the flight log.

Don’t trust that too much. I skimmed pretty quickly. Really just flipped to random places and skimmed quickly.

The discussion of the document dump would have gone on for days. Mar a lago, trump, but also many other rich and powerful people would have been in the news for months as the trial went on.

Epstein’s death was awfully convenient to people who didn’t want that spotlight regardless if he would have provided any more evidence.

Getting the document dump off the front page and not having a months long trial would have been very inconvenient to many people.

That’s really all I want to say, but since there is so much discussion on how he died I’ll give my half cent so it doesn’t look like I’m dodging.

There were plenty of people who wanted him gone including the guards who don’t like prisoners in general and despise child molesters. Providing him with means even by just taking him off suicide watch and then looking the other way would have been trivial. Killing him outright harder but I think still possible.

If I were a reporter or investigator I’d be pursuing that. Partly because that’s where my suspicions are, partly because the null hypothesis isn’t very interesting to pursue.

It was a race who got to him first. At a minimum I think he was assisted. I don’t believe he is alive. I don’t think anyone liked him that much and his living is too much a liability.

Bill and Hillary need to put on their armor because what would please the Donald more than the Clinton's being smeared by Barr's hand picked investigators coming up with "incontrovertible" evidence that the Clintons were involved in the Epstein "suicide" to cover up their involvement in the sex trafficking cabal.

I am sure that he will come up with evidence of other Donald's enemies that were also involved in Epstein's sex trafficking group. But nailing Bill and Hillary (even if he can't get a conviction as conspirators) he will probably have earned an appointment to the Supreme Court or the appointment as VP with expanded powers over DOJ. I don't know of any law that would prohibit him from serving as "Acting A/G " and VP at the same time. I am sure that Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon have it all mapped out.
