NEW YORK (AP) — Jail guards are suspected of falsifying log entries to show they were checking on inmates in Jeffrey Epstein’s unit every half hour when they actually weren’t, according to a person familiar with the probe into his death.

Surveillance video reviewed after the 66-year-old financier’s suspected suicide over the weekend shows guards never made some of the checks noted in the log, according to the person familiar with the investigation.

The person wasn’t authorized to disclose information and spoke to The Associated Press Tuesday on condition of anonymity.

The development comes as the federal jail in Manhattan where Epstein was being held comes under increasing scrutiny in the wake of Epstein’s suicide. Epstein is believed to have killed himself early Saturday at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York, where he was awaiting trial in a sex trafficking case.

How Barr failed to do his job protecting high profile prisoners. He can't be trusted, and now he should be called to resign. He's not capable , is a liar, and is corrupt and likely compromised from his dad's Epstein connection, and should have recused himself. Maybe the House over site needs to find out a lot more behind why this was allowed by Barr to happen, and why Epstein got his job with his dad.he should be called to testify and asked if trump was involved.

Money is a great motivator, especially if you think there's no way you'll get caught.

Not too hard to think that the guards MIGHT have been approached by "thugs"
and shown pictures of their families and or homes w/a "nice family shame if
something would happen to 'em." In 2016 a very credible young woman re-
tracted a charge that Trump had rapped her as young teen after her and her
family were threatened with harm.

Sometime maybe if you were the guard you take the money and shut up.

But somebody or bodies higher up the food chain might very well helped to set
up Epstein by removing him from suicide watch, leaving sheets in his cell, having a
bunk bed, and taking out his cellmate.

will probably claim that they were afraid to go and check on him because of the screaming and shrieking coming from his cell. Barr of course will eventually exonerate the guards and claim no one could have known that those shrieks and screams were indicative of any need to go and check on a prisoner.
