Trump Senate Loyalists Mull Plan to Call Bidens for Any Impeachment Trial: Report

Source: dailybeast

Top Senate Republicans are mulling an explosive plan to call Joe and Hunter Biden as witnesses in any impeachment trial of Donald Trump. The idea is reportedly being championed by Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky and John Kennedy of Louisiana, who discussed the possibility of summoning the Bidens at a private lunch last week. Paul was apparently sufficiently emboldened to publicly call for Hunter Biden to be subpoenaed at a campaign rally with the president Monday in Kentucky. While the bare-knuckle tactic may be popular with Trump loyalists who believe the collateral damage could hurt Democrats, many traditional Senate Republicans told the Washington Post they fear the strategy is inappropriate and could backfire.

and they seem to assume TRUMP himself will attend his own impeachment, and I don't think THAT is a given.

They will be blocked because they are not witnesses to the (ALLEGED!) crimes charged.
The only witnesses that can be called are the mango-traitor himself, those in the room with him when the extortion-call was made, and the assorted GOP staff-criminals that tried to cover it all up.

GOP Manager: “Mr. Biden, were you in that room when that call was made?”
Biden: “No.”
GOP Manager: (Quietly, “Shit...”). “Well, thanks for coming.”

I have complete faith in Joe Biden, and the Ukrainians have investigated him and his son and exonerated them both from any wrongdoing.

The Repugs are just throwing spaghetti at the wall, hoping something will stick. They're not going to stop Trump from being impeached -- that will be the first sentence of the history books ("Donald J. Trump was the 45th president and only one of three to be impeached by the U.S. Congress." ) -- the question for each senator is what the history books say about their vote during the trial. After hundreds of pages of damning testimony and no exculpatory ones, the history books will then list how each senator voted.

And future Americans will know that when the chips are down, whether the Republicans voted for country or party.
