Actress Jane Fonda on Friday participated in a climate change protest in Washington for a fifth consecutive week.

Fonda was not arrested despite blocking an entrance to the White House grounds. She has been arrested the previous four weeks.

The Academy Award winner originally pledged to get arrested on 14 consecutive Fridays as part of a campaign called "Fire Drill Fridays." Last week, she spent the night in jail after being arrested.

Fonda, 81, said her demonstrations are modeled on Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg’s "Fridays for Future" campaign. “We cannot leave it up to our young people to fight this fight for us,” she said at a rally near the Capitol before marching to the White House...

This week's rally was designed to highlight the role the military plays in contributing to climate change. Fonda said Congress should cut the military budget to help fund the Green New Deal, a proposal introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield also participated in Friday's demonstration. Ice Cream was provided to protesters at the White House. Fonda is starring in the Netflix show "Grace and Frankie."

I protested the Vietnam war and she lent her celebrity to that cause so I appreciated her efforts a long time ago.
She's significantly older than I am and she's out there getting arrested while I sit on my ass posting thoughts online ... make me feel a little guilty.
This time around, I find her inspiring. She's a national treasure.
