Fort Bragg paratroopers rapidly deploy New Year's Day in response to embassy attacks
Source: The Fayetteville Observer
Within 18 hours of receiving a notice to deploy in support of American embassy attacks and a breach in Iraq, paratroopers at Fort Bragg were ready, officials said.
More than 650 paratroopers toted equipment in brisk weather during the early morning hours of New Years Day, to board C-17 aircraft headed to the U.S. Central Command area of operations as part as the Immediate Response Force.
A spokesman for the 82nd Airborne Division said paratroopers with the 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division were activated and deployed in response to the increased threat levels against U.S. personnel and facilities.
TEB this is why your buddies had to head back to Bragg. Werent they 504th dudes?

has dissed military personnel from day one of his administration of this country. The bone spur is envious of all who serve. He did not have the courage, loyalty or fortitude to serve. Yet he is hoping the military will give him a pass. This vet will always say HELL NO trump. YOU ARE A COWARD and given your acquiescence to the leader of another country like a lap dog licking up his vomit your loyalty to the American people and our Constitution is extremely suspect. Putin's golden shower video of you notwithstanding.

(599 posts)I would have never have wanted to have had to serve with or under him. A sicko like Trump could have gotten other GIs killed if he were to have served in the Military.

(2,412 posts)I pray for their safety. My brother in law died in Vietnam for a lie. I hope they are safe and do not get hurt in this election ploy by Trump. Is it an accident that this event happened over New Years when many Americans are home watching TV???? I am suspicious about this timing about the holiday and the impeachment issue. What is going on? I keep an open mind.

(7,102 posts)US troops are in the Middle East?
Let's see, Trump pulled 1,000 troops out of Syria but didn't send them home. They went somewhere to guard oil fields. We already had something like 2,000 in SA.
Then, for this incident, they said 100 Marines were at the Embassy. But then, somewhere they said 750 were being sent over. Now, an additional 650 packed up and left for the incident.
It seems to me that, bit by bit, there is a build up of American troops in the ME. Are we entitled in any way to know the extent that our troops are deployed? Probably not, due to secrecy and what should be part of planning. But, we have troops seemingly everywhere.
First and foremost, our Embassy needs to be protected and perhaps evacuated, since Iraq seems content to allow the "protesters" to remain and threaten our personnel. Meanwhile, Trump was content to travel to "the Southern White House" to have himself a good time.
Who is running the country? Who is making these decisions? WTF...
