Pelosi Signals An End To Her Hold On Articles Of Impeachment

Source: NPR

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said she expects to release her hold on the two articles of impeachment against President Trump "soon," but for now, she is still holding out to learn more about how Republicans plan to conduct a Senate trial.

"No, I'm not holding them indefinitely," Pelosi told reporters Thursday at a weekly press conference. "I'll send them over when I'm ready. That will probably be soon."

Pelosi refused to give any additional information about the timing, saying Democrats want to know what Senate Republicans are "willing to do and when they're willing to do it."

I've been seeing this "report" all over and I can't figure out what's true.

She should hold out until they get it right!

He's famous for putting people off with "I'll let you know in a few weeks." or "I'll let you know later."

Nancy might be using his own stall tactic on him.

He wants this whole thing over quickly. He knows the Senate will make a mockery of the trial and cut him loose no matter what, so the longer it takes for Nancy to hand over the Articles, the longer he'll have to wait.

'cause that means 'never'.

Stalling is fine; in fact it makes sense, waiting for more chargeable offenses.

Here's how WaPo reported it, based on the same Pelosi quote:

Pelosi resists pressure to transmit impeachment articles to Senate

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) continued to resist calls Thursday to transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate, reiterating her view that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) must lay out trial rules before she appoints impeachment managers.

“We need to see the arena to which we are sending our managers. Is that too much to ask?” Pelosi said at a news conference, after a growing number of Democrats said publicly that it is time to let a trial begin centered on President Trump’s conduct toward Ukraine. Pelosi pledged not to hold the articles “indefinitely” and said they would probably be transmitted “soon.”

that way she retains the high ground and justification for not sending the articles yet
