Trump proposes sweeping rollback of environmental oversight

Source: AP

By ELLEN KNICKMEYER

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Thursday proposed rolling back enforcement of a landmark environmental law, reducing federal oversight of many major projects, from pipelines to commercial development, to speed the approval process.

He said the United States cannot compete “if a bureaucratic system holds us back from building what we need.”

Trump outlined the proposed overhaul of the half-century old National Environmental Policy Act at the White House. That law changed environmental oversight in the country by requiring federal agencies to consider the impact of major building projects on the land and on wildlife.

He called the law “big government at its absolute worst” and said the changes would speed up the process of approving projects that received major federal funding.

Teddy Roosevelt was a committed environmentalist. We have national parks because of him. Looks like we won't have them too much longer.

He is intent on destroying the planet. I didn't think I could hate this loathsome person any more.

Very unlikely he'll still be alive when things start to get really bad.

Whom are we competing against? I was told by several MAGA wearing folks that we are the greatest nation in the world... so who are we competing against? Face it, these animals would build a hotel on Arlington Cemetery if they could, and would happily destroy the entire Everglades for ten acres of build-able land. But, since this nation has been convinced to worship the green paper, such behavior is par for the course. (get it?)

...on his own. This is every partisan Republican nutjob with an agenda and an ax to grind coming out of the woodwork and getting as much mileage out of him as they can while he is still in office.
