Coronavirus: US bars entry to foreigners travelling from mainland China, declares public health emer

Source: South China Morning Post

The United States will deny entry to foreigners travelling from mainland China to prevent the new coronavirus from spreading after declaring a public health emergency on Friday.

President Donald Trump’s order will require US citizens, permanent residents and immediate family members arriving in the country from China’s Hubei province – the epicentre of the contagion – to be quarantined for 14 days starting Sunday at 5:00pm Eastern time.

The measures were announced by the White House task force on the coronavirus led by Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar. The order came as US health authorities confirmed the seventh case of the contagion – officially known as the 2019 novel coronavirus – in Santa Clara, California.

The move by Washington follows similar restrictions put in place by Japan and Singapore on incoming visitors from mainland China.

That this likely is a biological weapons release inside the Chinese lab on Wuhan.
If not an actual weapon, it’s growth patterns are mimicking a weapon. The good thing is that it is not very fatal- (about 2% of confirmed cases so far are dying, so it’s more than influenza, but considerably less toxic than smallpox).

Clearly their military/science community recognized the severity and thank GOD they communicated the seriousness of it right away to the outside world. THAT is different from any previous release.

Whether was intentional, or accidental, at this point doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is speed in getting it under control.

My calculations say it’s slightly more toxic (4.6% more fatal than my calculations last week), but also slightly slower in its spread. (Expanding 8% slower that my calculations last week).

That assumes the WHO numbers coming out of China are accurate. Unfortunately, we don’t have checks of that, because there isn’t any independent reporting of actual deaths. Only government reporting.

Some quick forecasts:

2/01- 330 dead. 16,000 confirmed cases.

02/07- 3,500 dead. 168000 confirmed cases.

02/14- 50,000 dead. 2.2 million cases

02/21- 1 Million dead, 57 million cases.

Cross your fingers that they can develop preventive measures quickly to slow the spread. It’s going to quickly overwhelm the healthcare systems of the entire world.

And it’s not a conspiracy theory.

It’s simple facts. It is indeed a biological disease of some kind; it came from the only city in China a lab capable of dealing with the most deadly diseases. It could have been part of a weapons research project; or a just plain disease research project.

Weapons don’t have to be highly fatal- they can be lower level simply designed to overwhelm a countries resources. It is clear that China was able to identify the genome very quickly. I find that unusual for a virus in the wild.

But hey- we’ll just have to see if they are able to get it under control. Cross your fingers.

I would not be shocked in the slightest if we receive news that this strain had origins in Wuhan’s dual use research center.
