COVID-19 vaccine trial will begin at Kaiser Permanente in Seattle

Source: Puget Sound Business Journal

One thing that distinguishes COVID-19 from a typical flu virus is that there’s no vaccine for it — yet. A group of 12 people in King County is working on that.

A vaccine clinical trial for COVID-19 — based on a Massachusetts biotech’s work — will begin in the next few weeks, said Dr. Lisa Jackson, senior investigator at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute. The clinical trial, which the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) approved this week, will take place at Kaiser Permanente’s vaccine and treatment evaluation unit in Seattle.

It will be the first human clinical trial for a COVID-19 vaccine in the nation.

“When the selection of the site occurred, we didn’t have any idea that this infection would be in the United States or in Seattle,” Jackson said. “Experiencing the transmission of this infection force provides that local view of the importance.”

This might be why president dumbshit thinks a vaccine is a month away. He doesn't understand this is only the first step, of many, that must take place before a vaccine can be mass produced and distributed.

He's gotten contractors (who he doesn't pay) to jump to his whim about cutting corners here and there so he can start printing money.

He thinks they'll complete this for HIS benefit.

what sort of "incentives" he'll guarantee Big Pharma to fast-track a vaccine before November?

Viruses don’t care what your socioeconomic status is. I wonder if Republicans realize that.

But in Harris County (Houston) free flu shots are available to anyone who wants one. You just have to go to one of the county health clinics. They don't even ask for insurance information. They generally have free flu shots at the county hospitals on the weekends during flu season too.

That's how COVID-19 should be treated; as a public health issue.
