Coronavirus is "almost a perfect killing machine" for elderly patients, US nursing home association head says

Relatives and friends should not visit patients in nursing and assisted living centers as the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread, the head of the United States' largest association of long-term and post-acute care providers told CNN.

"We are encouraging all people, including family members and loved ones, to not visit nursing homes and assisted living facilities," American Health Care Association President Mark Parkinson said Tuesday.

"Until we get this under control, our new guidance, as of today, is to family members, to loved ones: Don't visit the facilities; instead, come up with an alternate way to communicate," he said, including phone, text, FaceTime or Snapchat.

Then called it a hoax and fake news, like Putin has done. Now trump is suggesting more tax cuts that'll damage Social Security, again hurting the elderly the most, and the seniors. Still voting for him have to be as nuts as he is accepting this from him as ok. It shows trump could care less about the elderly, and is intentionally hurting them now by his actions and actions with this virus he claims is contained, and a hoax, and is fake news. Trump is the one who is fake, he hates America doing this. Trumps the hoax as president.

either because the"old man" was the Grim Reaper, and/or because dying of the flu meant you went more quickly, with less prolonged suffering, than some other ways.

My parents are gone. But in the last few years of their life they had a lot of health issues. So they did have to spend time in rehab facilities. I always got them home as fast as possible, but when you break a hip, or have a serious surgery, you have to do rehab.

The only time myself or another family member wasn't with them in their rehab facility, was when they were sleeping at night. We had family there from 8 a.m. until midnight. We all took shifts. And I know my mom and dad appreciated it more than they could ever say. They knew that we would be there to watch over them and make sure they were getting proper care. And we kept them company to make sure their days went faster, until they could get home.

To be told to stay away? That would have killed me. To not be able to be with your loved one? I can't even imagine it.
And as scary as it would be for me, imagine my parents, imagine anyone's parents or family lying there in a bed, and no one is allowed to come visit them.

I am not kidding, I'm sitting here crying, thinking of all the people who are going to be alone now because of this.
