Coronavirus: First Death Confirmed In India

Source: BBC News

(1 hr. ago). India has recorded its first death linked to the coronavirus, officials confirmed. The 76-year-old man, from the southern state of Karnataka, returned from Saudi Arabia on 29 February after a month-long visit.

People who came in contact with the man, who died on Tuesday, are being traced and quarantined, the state's health minister said.

India has 73 confirmed cases of the virus, the health ministry says. The dead man's test results were only made public on Thursday.

Officials say he was screened at the airport when he arrived from Saudi Arabia but showed no symptoms at the time. After he developed difficulties last week, he was taken to hospital.

because once something gets going there, look out! They have the 2nd highest world population behind China. And in terms of the pharmaceuticals they produce, if China goes down and they go down, then the shortages will be unbelievable.

knowing how quickly this thing spreads before someone even shows symptoms....

Crowded places are very scary. It's times like this when I'm glad the universe decided I should be naturally introverted. The hermit life is working for me. Others are not so lucky when they have people they want to visit and be with.

I have coworkers who jumped on the cheap travel prices to go on vacation now. I would not want to be traveling anywhere right now. Just telework and chill, checking on loved ones electronically, etc.
